Today we mourn the loss of an American icon, a beloved philanthropist and a proud 4-H alumna, Dolly Parton. Her extraordinary life was defined not only by her incredible talent, but by her unwavering generosity, compassion and commitment to helping others.

For generations of young people, Dolly embodied what it means to use your gifts in service of others. From her roots in 4-H to her lifelong investment in literacy, education and community, she showed us that true leadership is grounded in humility, kindness, and purpose. As Dolly once said, "storms make trees take deeper roots." 💚

A proud 4-H alumna, she reminded us that challenges can strengthen us and help us grow. That wisdom will continue to inspire young people and communities for generations to come. We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and the millions whose lives she touched. Her legacy of hope, generosity, and service will live on. 🍀

Great things happening with our homeschool 4-H Club. It was fun introducing the 4-H Club to many of the students that didn’t know what we were. Was also fun refreshing the minds of those that did know. Looking forward to next month!

Here's a friendly reminder that tomorrow from 1-3 in the Towns County Extension Office is the first meeting of the Mountain Area 4-H Homeschool Club! I will be in Classroom meetings tomorrow until 11AM. I will then head to our office. IF you want your child to ride in our van, we will leave around 11:30 to make sure we are there on time. I can carry around 9-10 students. If you would rather drive, the address is 67 Lakeview Circle, Hiawassee GA 30546 and although the parking lot will likely be full at the Extension office, there is ample parking in the near vicinity.
I will say that GPS isn't super helpful, so I am enclosing a map. Basically, you follow 76 out of Clayton, toward Hiawassee. It is a straight shot. 76 will also become Main Street. You will pass Towns County High School . When you see the Hiawassee Dairy Queen on your left, slow down; you are almost ready to turn. You will turn left on Lakeside Dr. Domino's Pizza is right before the street, so when you see that, look for the road. Also, across the street is The Chatuge Regional Hospital. As soon as you turn left onto Lakeside Dr you will turn right onto S. Berrong St, The very next left is Lakeview Circle. Turn there and the Towns County 4-H Office will be on the right, after the VFW Thrift Store. Additional parking is behind the 4-H Office, where the Public Library is.
We will be providing light snacks during the meeting to the 4-H'ers. So you may want to have an early lunch before you come. During this first meeting, we will go through an "Intro to 4-H" lesson where we go to stations that will help you better understand what 4-H offers! We will also handle club registration, and hand out club calendars!

By popular demand, Rabun County is forming a Homeschool 4-H Club. Along with Union and Towns Counties, each month we will have lessons and opportunities for homeschool students! 3 Counties, 3 4-H Staff members, 1 amazing club!
