Claire and her friend had a great time at the Friends of Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge Youth Waterfowl Clinic this past weekend! 💯

I was there cooking and processing birds with my LEM Products equipment, Reload Rub & Seasoning Co., Lane's BBQ, and Shaeff's Sauces. 🔪

Every kid got a Wild Game Cook hat. 👊🏼

United Call Works was there providing kids with calls/lanyards/shirts and teaching them how to call ducks. 🦆

Ducks Unlimited was there teaching Duck ID

Ohio Division of Wildlife was there teaching blind and fi***rm safety! 💥

And many other partners! ✊🏼

I dont make poppers often. If I'm being honest, I think they are over rated. 🤷🏻‍♂️

That said, if nothing more than nostalgia, I enjoy poppers a couple times a year. And if it weren't for , I never would've started Wild Game Cook. That is the entire meaning behind my tagline..."inspiring others to try new ways to enjoy ". I love poppers, there's just so many other ways to enjoy dove, ducks, deer, etc. 💯

Recipe:

I doctored up the cream cream with Bachan's, Buffalo Wild Wings Asian Zing, minced garlic and ginger, Mike's Hot Honey, and Lane's BBQ Qnami. A perfect blend of SWEET & HEAT! 🔥

I pre cooked the bacon a little before putting on the Camp Chef on HIGH. I also pre baked the jalapeños for 20mins and they were seasoned with Pully Wissle Provisions PDUB rub and drizzled with evoo. 3 of them were made with sliced peaches because I ran out of jalapeño. They were pretty solid as well. 👊🏼

After bringing inside, some of them were rolled and tossed in Shaeff's Sauces pepper jelly! 👌🏼

1ST DOVE ALERT! 🕊

Finally! In her 4th season of hunting, finally connected on a bird in the air! Only shot twice today and made it count! 👊🏼

Ronda did phenomenal today. Found every downed bird, many of which dropped in the woods. 🙌🏼

Thanks to my friends for hosting a great controlled hunt! Dinner (fried fish, fries, hushpuppies, and slaw) was amazing! ✊🏼

Finished off the day with some well deserved ice cream! 🍦

Had the opportunity to teach a group of 20 teenagers last weekend how to process a deer and how to cook their own steak from the same deer.

This was part of Coonskin Cap Brigade, an outdoor educational program that my family has been a part of for over 50 years!

This deer was shot just prior to camp using a depredation secured by a landowner through the Ohio Division of Wildlife.

Processing your own game and cooking are both incredible life skills that many people today, young and old, do not possess.

Thankful to be able to pass along what I've learned over the years to the next generation!

Ohio 🕊 Opener was 🔥.

Boys got drawn for a youth hunt on public land. Got to the field just before 430p and they were done by 7p. 💥👊🏼

Ronda did great as well. We gave her a break on some of the retrieves because of the heat. 🥵
