🔥⚡ FIRE PREVENTION WEEK: CHARGE INTO FIRE SAFETY! ⚡🔥

Our KCFD7 firefighters had a fantastic time visiting the third graders at Cle Elum-Roslyn Elementary School to celebrate Fire Prevention Week! 🚒❤️

This year’s National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) theme is “Charge into Fire Safety™: Safe Charging Is a Superpower!” ⚡

Our firefighters brought fire safety to life with hands-on activities, demonstrations, and opportunities for students to learn about the importance of fire prevention and keeping themselves and their families safe.

Students got to practice emergency skills, and even experience what it’s like to wear firefighter gear! Most importantly, they learned that everyday choices can help prevent fires.

🔋 Here are a few charging superpowers everyone can practice at home:
⚡ Use the charger that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer.
🔌 Unplug devices when they’re fully charged.
🛏️ Charge devices on a hard, flat surface—not on beds, pillows, or couches.
🚨 Stop using batteries that become unusually hot, swell, leak, or produce strange smells.
🏠 Keep smoke alarms working and make sure your family has an escape plan.

A huge THANK YOU to Cle Elum-Roslyn Elementary and its third-grade students and staff for welcoming us! We love connecting with our local schools and helping the next generation become fire-safety superheroes. 🧑‍🚒❤️

As of today, Monday, October 5th, the updated Three Queens Fire Closure Order
06-17-03-2026-45 reduces this closure area, as precipitation has moderated fire behavior and more of the repair work to roads and dozer and handlines has been completed.

This provides more access to the north end of Cle Elum Lake, areas around the north end of Kachess Lake, the Keechelus Ridge area to the east of I-90 and other popular hunting and recreation areas.

The Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) continues to be closed from Ridge Lake to the Spinola Creek Trail 1310.1, with the section from the Lake Vincinte Trail #1365 to the Spinola Creek Trail now open.

No areas within the Three Queens fire perimeter are open due to hazards such as burned trees, holes due to burned roots below the ground surface and the potential for debris flows. Crews are still working within the remaining area closure order to patrol areas of smoldering fire, finish chipping and fire repair work and backhaul equipment no longer needed. Please help keep firefighters safe and expediate this work by staying out of these areas.

Enjoy the additional areas that are now open!

Current Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest closure orders can be found at https://www.fs.usda.gov/r06/okanogan-wenatchee/alerts
