🌧️ TRI CLEAR LAKE WEATHER UPDATE

Good morning, Clear Lake! Mother Nature has us making a few adjustments this morning, but WE’RE HAVING A RACE! 🏊🚴🏃

Due to the timing of this morning’s storms and lightning, TRI Clear Lake will now begin at 9:30 a.m. All athletes will race the Sprint distance, which will help us get everyone safely through the course earlier today.

🚴 BIKE COURSE (South Shore): Expect the heaviest bike traffic approximately 9:45-10:45 a.m., with athletes continuing on the course until around 11:00-11:15 a.m.

🏃 RUN COURSE (North Shore): Runners will begin hitting the course around 10:10 a.m., with peak activity approximately 10:30-11:30 a.m. The final athletes should be finished around noon.

Please use extra caution if you’re traveling around the lake this morning, watch for our volunteers and law enforcement, and give our athletes plenty of room.

And if you’re near the course, grab a cowbell, make a sign and CHEER! 📣
We have athletes who traveled from across the country to race in Clear Lake, and we’re excited that we’re going to get to give them a race today!

Clear Lake Update: 9:30 AM Start | Sprint for ALL!

Good morning TRI Clear Lake athletes!

LET'S RACE TODAY! 🏊🚴🏃

There is lightning associated with the storm currently moving through the area, so please stay put and do not come to the race site yet. Please continue to watch the weather and your email for any additional updates.

Based on the timing of the storm and the support available from our volunteers and law enforcement partners, we are moving forward with a 9:30 a.m. race start.

IMPORTANT: ALL athletes will race the SPRINT distance today. This includes athletes registered for the Olympic distance.

Updated Schedule:
• 8:30–9:15 a.m. Transition Open
• 9:15 a.m. Pre-race Meeting at City Beach
• No Body Marking
• 9:30 a.m. Race Start
• SPRINT DISTANCE FOR ALL

We know many of you have traveled a long way to race with us, and our team has been working through every possible scenario this morning to safely give you that opportunity.

And we're having a race!

For now, stay dry, stay safe and stay put while this storm moves through. Please do not arrive before transition opens at 8:30 a.m. and continue watching your email for updates.

It’s TRI Clear Lake week, and this one’s a biggie: we’re celebrating 10 years of swim, bike, run in Clear Lake! 🎉

The action starts Friday with our youngest athletes taking on the Splash & Dash, followed by Saturday’s main event. Come downtown and cheer on the athletes as they race through Clear Lake and cross the finish line in City Park!

Beyond race weekend, the World Aerobatic Championships are still filling the skies, Central Gardens is throwing its Summer Garden Party, and there’s plenty more on the calendar. You won't want to miss what’s happening in Clear Lake this week!

WOW, Clear Lake. YOU SHOWED UP! 🌎✈️👏
What an incredible sight on Main last night for the Parade of Nations and Opening Ceremony of the 33rd FAI World Aerobatic Championship!

The crowds. The cheers. The flags. The flyover. And the chance to welcome competitors and officials from around the world to Clear Lake and North Iowa. ❤️

And they noticed.

We received this message from Event & Hospitality Manager Heidi Forbes this morning:
“The contestants and officials are still talking about it this morning. They are truly blown away by the hospitality of the people of Iowa.”

That’s YOU, Clear Lake! 🥹

A huge thank you to our Clear Lake FFA students who helped make the Parade of Nations happen by carrying the country banners, and to the Clear Lake Police Department for providing the parade es**rt. 👏

The World Aerobatic Championship is just getting started, so let’s take Heidi’s advice:
“Please keep showing up. Keep coming. Keep cheering. You are making this special.”
