Collaborative Labs We design, facilitate, document, and illustrate highly interactive and dynamic meetings.

Our clients include private sector companies, nonprofit organizations, governmental agencies and many other organizations and associations. We work with groups that range in size from 10 to 1,000 and create customized, collaborative engagements that include: Strategic Planning, Process Design, Marketing and Branding, Community Based Initiatives and other issues that require the need to bring groups and individuals together to create a vision, establish priorities, reach consensus and emerge with a plan – all in about a day.

Announcing the retirement of Andrea Henning the Executive Director of the Collaborative Labs since its inception in 2004! Andrea has been the DNA for the Collaborative Labs for the past 22 years. The impact she has made in all the lives she has touched from her team, to SPC college, to the many members of our community and beyond is hard to even summarize and capture. Parting is such sweet sorrow Andrea, but we are in joyful anticipation of seeing you again.

Here is a parting message from our respected, valued and esteemed leader...

It has been the joy of my life, for the last 22 years, to lead Collaborative Labs and to serve with my “Colabs’ A-Team” to support our clients! I have decided to spend sacred time with my parents and take a “retirement sabbatical.” I look forward to future opportunities to serve you and SPC’s Collaborative Labs in the New Year!

✈️ Tampa Bay’s aviation future is preparing for takeoff! Presidents, CEOs, and executive leaders from across the region gathered at Collaborative Labs for a high altitude workforce conversation—one that could launch a transformative aviation talent initiative.

The shared vision from St. Petersburg College President Dr. Tonjua Williams and Tampa International Airport CEO Michael Stephens helped the room lift off, inspiring collaboration among leaders from TPA, PIE, SRQ, LAL, and regional colleges including SPC, Hillsborough Community College, and Polk State College.

Together, these leaders charted a flight path for a regional partnership designed to:
• Build a strong, future ready aviation talent pipeline
• Align education and employer needs
• Expand career pathways for students and residents
• Reduce duplication and maximize shared resources

Along the way, key opportunities came into view—from clearer job placement pathways to increasing youth exposure to aviation careers—along with the turbulence we must navigate to keep this initiative soaring. Collaborative Labs was honored to facilitate the session and capture the insights through a Real time Record, Executive Summary, and Visionary Illustration.

This is just the beginning. The runway is clear, momentum is building, and the work ahead will help shape a regional model that strengthens our aviation workforce and fuels economic opportunity across Tampa Bay.

🌟 Imagine being handed four separate strategic plans—each with its own priorities—and needing to develop your own vision, mission, and two‑year goals that not only stand strong but also support all four. It’s the kind of task that could take weeks, but with the right facilitation, complexity becomes clarity.

Strategic alignment doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. Many organizations must fit their goals within broader guidelines while still advancing their own initiatives. That balance is exactly where a skilled facilitator makes all the difference.

✨ Recent example: The Clearwater Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) needed to align four major plans—the City of Clearwater, Downtown Clearwater CRA, Downtown Development Board, and North Greenwood CRA—into a unified two year strategic plan.

With our facilitator’s support, the team:
• Refined starter goals and objectives in small groups
• Finalized five strong goals with clear objectives
• Updated their vision and mission
• Positioned themselves to complete a full action plan
• Walked away with a personalized visionary illustration of their future direction

Imagine a family as a plane flying through turbulent clouds—stress, disorder, dysfunction. Kids don’t get to steer that plane. Anxiety builds, moods shift, behaviors spiral, and sometimes substance use enters the picture. They bail out, not because they want to, but because they don’t see another way.

That’s where the Children’s Mental Health Initiative steps in. In this vision mural, created live during the CMHI convening at Collaborative Labs, the “life backpack” symbolizes the support system wrapped around a child in freefall. Equipped with the right tools, resources, and guidance, they regain stability, confidence, and the ability to land safely and thrive.

This mural was the collective vision of the Juvenile Welfare Board and community partners as they worked together to define what successful mental health support for children and families should look like in Pinellas County. Their focus centered on three critical areas: prevention and early intervention, public awareness and family engagement, and strengthening the workforce.
