Thank you for following BlackWater Mold Pros.
Being a newer established company, I figured it appropriate to provide you a quick briefing about us and what ACTUALLY makes us different from the dozens upon dozens of other companies in the Tampa Bay area.
Now of course we can say we care about the health and safety of every one of our clients, at the end of the day, that’s really what matters. But how did we get here? What led to the creation of and why with BlackWater Mold Pros?
The owner/founder of BlackWater started his career in mold back in 2019 when he moved to Florida from California, not really understanding the severity of mold in this region of the country, though really, the ability to handle this kind of industry started much earlier.
Growing up in a lower class household has its benefits.
Between automotive mechanics and minor household construction projects, I had to learn quick and at a young age how to handle the general problems of the world.
I started working construction (various industries including roofing, chimney and fireplace, demolition, paining and drywall, reglazing, etc) finally winding up in automotive mechanics.
Automotive was particularly helpful, because I wasn’t a traditional mechanic. I oversaw the safety and mechanics of over 30 race bikes, all of which required DETAIL and ATTENTION to every component and part, because one small error could be the end of someone’s life - you don’t take something like that lightly.
The eye for DETAIL and ACCURACY has to be an inept skill to have a 100% success rate, of which, I can proudly say, I have.
Taking that inept attention to detail and now apply it to a specialized construction industry, such as mold. Mold is no joke, and being that some people can be more mold sensitive (myself included), sometimes the “Industry Standard” isn’t actually enough. Anyone can “pass a PRV” (Post Remediation Verification), but how many companies deliver services beyond the expected normal.
Since 2019, I started as low as I could, literally, I was the “Crawlspace Tech”…
Within the first year, I earned my way and was asked to take over all training of new techs AND quality control of anyone else that maybe didn’t deliver optimal services.
Moving from technician work, I became professionally trained by NORMI for Mold Remediation and Mold Assessments and eventually took those skills to inspections specifically.
While inspecting, I apprenticed under someone who I consider to be the most detailed and trained mold inspector I had ever met, he had over 35 years of insurance inspection AS WELL AS 30 years of Mold Inspections under his belt.
He was at very least, a HARDASS when it came to what, where and why to look at in particular areas. He never made a mistake and though it’s not a viable form of inspecting being that tools and equipment exist for this reason, he had the nickname “The Nose”, that’s right, he could sense if/where the mold was, and man was he accurate.
He trained me to look, smell and sense if and where the mold hid behind, and he and I together could establish an accurate plan of action for proper remediation, every time.
(You want to learn something well? Learn from a Grumpy Old Man, they know best).
So, after years of hands-on remediation work and completing my inspector and remediator training, I found myself not just fixing problems—but helping others build their own businesses too. I worked with other companies, sharing my knowledge, training their teams, and making sure they had the tools and know-how to do the job right. It felt good to take the experience I’d earned and use it to help others succeed.
I’ve been in crawlspaces, basements, attics—you name it. I’ve scrubbed mold out of the toughest spots and managed big residential and commercial jobs from start to finish. Along the way, I’ve handled hundreds of projects, built teams, created fair and accurate estimates, and tracked down hidden mold that others missed. What I’ve learned is this: every job matters, and people deserve to feel safe in their homes. That’s why I approach each project like I’m doing it for someone I care about—because I am.
Now, I bring all of that to BlackWater Mold Pros. Every estimate, every inspection, every remediation project gets my full attention, honest advise and communication, and the highest level of care. Whether you’re dealing with a small issue or a major situation, I’m here to help get it done right—no shortcuts, no nonsense.
