When you’re running a business, it’s so easy to assume that you must be the only one who is struggling, frustrated, lost, confused, panicked, and having more bad days than good days.
Most of us humans keep those feelings on lockdown when we are talking to other people because the fear of anyone knowing is pretty terrifying and dangerous to our survival. Or at least pride.
I don’t believe that a business owner exists who doesn’t struggle so intensely that they consider quitting multiple times a week. Regardless of how successful they look to you.
It could be finances, employees, contractors, legal matters, confidence, sales, technology, family matters, health issues, overwhelm.
Next time you’re having a down day, try one of these.
1. Remind yourself at least daily that you truly are not alone, even if you can’t see or hear about other people’s specific struggles.
2. Measure and evaluate what you’re doing in your business. (Facts > Drama)
3. Reassess your assumptions about just how much hard work it will actually take to get what you want. It’s usually A LOT harder than anyone lets on.
4. Seek out intimate groups of business owners you feel connected with, develop a relationship, and eventually try being vulnerable with them. Much easier said than done, I know.
P.S. If you are looking for a safe group to learn and connect with to reach your business goals, I’m putting together a small group for exactly that. If you would like to get on the waiting list to be the first to hear all the details, message me and let me know.
