Dear Colleagues and Friends,
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our beloved colleague, Joe Walsh, on Saturday, May 23rd.
Originally from New York, Joe moved to Pittsburgh to serve as the in-house AV representative for the Marriott hotel chain with ITA. Over his distinguished career, he worked at many notable venues, including Nemacolin and the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. His professional journey included roles at Mediaquest (formerly Grannie’s Attic), Three Rivers Entertainment, Chujko Brothers, and Benack Productions, before joining the sales team here at Hughie's Event Production Services, where he spent the last eight years.
Joe was a passionate fan of baseball. Every spring, he traveled to Florida for training camp and never missed a Pirates home opener. He was also deeply committed to the sport beyond the stands, working with various college organizations to promote the game and support fundraising efforts.
Known for his outgoing personality and unmistakable voice, Joe made friends everywhere, whether at his favorite spot, Blinkey’s, at a game, or simply waiting in line at the grocery store. He was generous to his core, always eager to help those around him. Joe's large frame was truly matched by the size of his personality and his heart.
Joe is survived by his family in New York: his sisters, Paulette Walsh and Theresa Mayhew; his brother-in-law, Mark Mayhew; and his nephew, Cooper Mayhew.
He will be deeply missed by all of us.
