Dear Wagner Awning friends and allies,
Tremont Montessori School is again at risk of being closed. As much as we like restoring old buildings, our neighborhood is much better off if this remains an accessible, public school. Scranton Elementary's proximity is one of the things that attracted us to The Wagner Awning Building and Tremont Montessori is an important part of the neighborhood.
The push to close this school has happened multiple times before and thankfully good people have pushed back and made the case that this school (and all of Tremont's schools) should stay open.

Tremont Montessori is centrally located and is a safe neighborhood that attracts students from throughout Cleveland
Tremont is a growing neighborhood with a 55% increase in the under 5 age group in the past year
Tremont community members and Friends of Tremont Montessori have raised over $200,000 for Tremont Montessori and completed a Strategic Plan for the school
The Tremont community has partnered with CMSD for over 10 years to create quality educational outcomes at Tremont Montessori.

Wagner and The Fairmont Creamery are already at 18 people signed up for RiverSweep and looking for more. If you are interested in volunteering, let Josh or Joe know!

RiverSweep Tremont/Duck Island is ON for this Sat. May 11th. Volunteers are invited to gather by the gazebo in Lincoln Park (1208 Starkweather) between 8:30am and 9:00am. We’ll self-select into work crews, turn in the signed waivers, and pick up our supplies of garbage bags and gloves – along with a commemorative t-shirt – then disperse to clean-up sites around Tremont and Duck Island. Clean-up runs from 9am to 11:45am at various locations.

Please note that one of the other RiverSweep clean sites (there are around 10 around the city), was unable to coordinate a clean-up this year and therefore cancelled their event on Facebook. This did cause some confusion, and we have been receiving e-mails and calls from individuals asking if RiverSweep is cancelled. It is not cancelled. RiverSweep is On. RiverSweep is a rain or shine event. The weather forecast is actually looking good!

Sorry for the confusion!

After any construction project wraps up it’s easy to forget to take a minute to look at where our buildings started and what a little (or a lot of) TLC did to bring them new life. Check out the stairwell in our main lobby first in 2014 and today in 2019! It takes a village.
