Congratulations to Jorge Alcazar, our Vineyard Foreman, on his recent graduation from the Leadership Academy through the Sonoma County Grape Growers Foundation! We are very proud of Jorge, his hard work and this achievement. Today’s video are highlights from last Saturday’s Brad & Jim Show Live event, held on our tasting room patio. Hosts were Brad Beard of Mercury Wine and our Jim Rickards. It was a really delightful afternoon of wine and food pairing mixed with casual and informative conversation. There were lots of great questions from our fabulous audience and both Brad & Jim shared fun stories. Overall, it was a truly wonderful experience! OPEN BARN at J. Rickards Winery!
Saturday, June 20, 2026 - 11 AM 3 PM

Our Open Barn will feature a perfect wine-pairing bowl of Buffalo Chicken Pasta Salad. Taste a selection of our award-winning wines and enjoy the spectacular view from our patio and picnic grounds. We’ll be offering vineyard tours, as well. And, it will be a great time to stock up on summertime wines!

Since we are also participating in the Wine Road 50th Anniversary event “The Good Ol’ Days”* we’re asking our guests for Open Barn to make a reservation - then the wine tastings, food pairing, tours, patio or picnic table seating, etc., are all complimentary this round! You must be 21+ years of age to attend; no pets at this event, please. Please call us at (707) 367-7741 to make your reservation.

Spring Barn Owl Census at J. Rickards! Today, Casey O’Connell, Senior Animal Technician from Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue is here with Jim Rickards, checking on all of our Barn Owl boxes.

Notes from Jim: What we are aiming for is to get an estimation of our owl population throughout the vineyards by looking in the owl boxes and seeing who (“hoo hoo”) is there. This year, seems to be different, at least the timing seems to be different than other years. It appears that we had two arrivals of Barn Owls to nest here. An early one and a later one. The weather in late winter and early spring was warmer than usual so I’m thinking that our overwintering pairs of owls got busy early. The early arrivals have already raised their babies and they have fledged. We recently had a fledgling barn owl hanging out in the trees outside our tasting room for a few days before it moved on. The later group that arrived are still laying eggs because four of our boxes had eggs in them.

Today at 5 PM on Facebook, it’s our annual spring Barn Owl box checkup and census. Jim Rickards is joined in the vineyards by Casey O’Connell from Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue for this work. Brad and Jim are teaming up again for FIRST FRIDAY WINE COCKTAILS and it's always a lot of fun! Wine Cocktails are just $5 each. You can enjoy the "Mercury Summer Sangria", a seasonal take on their famous Mercury Sangria or the J. Rickards "New Cuban", a fresh and subtly spiced twist on the classic Old Cuban.
