Congratulations to Firefighter Magnier on completing his probationary period and earning his promotion to Firefigher II!

Around the station, he’s better known as “Frenchie,” and over the last year he’s proven he can handle just about anything the fire service throws at him. Fires, training, calls at all hours of the night… and apparently three successful pranks from his fellow firefighters.

It’s been said that probation doesn’t truly end until you’ve been adequately hazed by your shift, and Frenchie checked that box three times. Through it all, he remained a great teammate, worked hard, and earned the respect of those around him.

Congratulations, Frenchie! We are proud of your accomplishment and excited to watch your career continue to grow.

Congratulations, Firefighter Fortineaux on completing your probationary period and earning the title of Firefighter II! Your hard work, dedication, and commitment have paid off.

We’d also like to congratulate Firefighter Williams, who apparently took the ceremonial water shower on your behalf. While the prank may have missed its intended target, there’s no missing the accomplishment you’ve earned.

September is National Preparedness Month, and your HCESD 12 firefighters want to remind our community that emergencies don’t always come with a warning.

Take time this month to make a plan, build an emergency kit, know your evacuation routes, and talk with your family about what to do when the unexpected happens.

A little preparation now can make a big difference when every second counts.

Tropical Storm Edouard to Strengthen Before Making Landfall on Texas-Louisiana Coastline This Afternoon

The Harris County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (HCOHSEM) is monitoring Tropical Storm Edouard as it continues to move west along the Louisiana and Texas coastline.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) expects Edouard to strengthen prior to making landfall this afternoon near the Texas-Louisiana border. Rainfall amounts of 3-6 inches are possible beginning this afternoon, with some isolated totals of up to 9 inches.

The National Weather Service’s (NWS) Flood Watch has been extended to 7:00 pm Wednesday for Harris County.

What should you do?

Residents are encouraged to be at a safe location by midafternoon on Tuesday. Continue to monitor roadway conditions through Wednesday. Street flooding is possible in areas where the heaviest rain falls. Before getting on the road, check the Houston TranStar live traffic map for information on road conditions.

STAY WEATHER AWARE. Monitor media sources for severe weather information. Follow weather safety advice from the National Weather Service and other official sources.

HAVE MULTIPLE WAYS TO RECEIVE WEATHER ALERTS and be ready to take action should conditions change quickly.

Twenty-five years have passed, but the memories, sacrifices, and lessons of September 11, 2001 remain with us.

On the 25th Anniversary of 9/11, Harris County ESD No. 12 Fire Department invites our community to join us in honoring those we lost, recognizing the bravery of first responders, and reflecting on the unity that carried our nation forward.
