Coal Valley Fire Protection District is proud to welcome Chief Greg Marty to our staff!
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Greg Marty as Deputy Chief of Operations, effective September 1, 2026.
Chief Marty comes to CVFPD following his retirement from Rock Island Fire Department after a distinguished 25-year career.
Chief Marty had served in a variety of roles at Rock Island Fire Department including Firefighter, Lieutenant, Captain, Fire Marshal, and most recently Deputy Chief.
Chief Marty brings a wealth of experience and numerous professional qualifications to CVFPD, including EMT-Paramedic, HAZMAT Technician, and Fire Investigator, along with countless other certifications and areas of expertise.
In addition to his service at Rock Island Fire Department, Chief Marty has also been a tremendous leader in the fire service. He has served as President of the Quad City Fire Marshal’s Association, Chairman of the MABAS Division 43 Fire Investigation Team, and currently serves as the Vice President of the Illinois Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators.
Chief Marty holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Administration and Management. He is also currently obtaining his master’s degree in Forensic Fire Investigation from Oklahoma State University, as well as the Chief Fire Officer certification from the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association.
As Deputy Chief of Operations Chief Marty will oversee day-to-day operations, serve as the Fire Marshal, the training program manager, and assist with various other administrative functions.
The addition of Chief Marty is crucial to Coal Valley Fire Protection District as we continue to progress as a fire district. His experience and leadership will continue to move CVFPD in the right direction.
