🔥 Fire Prevention Month is Here — and We’re Bringing the Pizza! 🍕🚒
Wednesday, October 7th from 5–8 PM, your Cody Volunteer Firefighters are teaming up with Domino’s Pizza for one of our favorite community traditions — Pizza & Prevention Night.

When you order a pizza during that window, you might get a special delivery:
a firefighter at your door, ready to check your smoke detectors.

Here’s how it works:

If your smoke detectors are working, you’ll receive a certificate for a FREE pizza from Domino’s.

If they’re not working, our volunteers will install a new smoke detector for you on the spot — no cost, no hassle, just safety.

This event is all about keeping Cody families protected, and we’re grateful to the Domino’s team for partnering with us again to make fire safety fun, simple, and community‑powered.

Let’s kick off Fire Prevention Month the right way — with pizza, teamwork, and safer homes across Cody. 🍕🔥

🔥 October is Fire Prevention Month! 🔥

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) promotes Fire Prevention Week, October 4–10, 2026, with the theme:

⚡ “Charge into Fire Safety — Safe Charging is a Superpower!” ⚡

Be a Superhero like Sparky The Fire Dog and help spread the word!

Everyday actions can help prevent lithium-ion battery fires:

â—Ź Use the right charger: Use the charger that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer.

â—Ź Charge on a hard surface: Avoid charging devices on beds, couches, or pillows where heat can become trapped.

â—Ź Watch for warning signs: Stop using a device if it becomes very hot, swells, smokes, or develops an unusual smell.

● Unplug when fully charged: Don’t leave devices plugged in longer than needed.

â—Ź Charge larger batteries safely: Charge e-bikes, scooters, and power tools outside and away from exits.

â—Ź Be safe on planes: Keep charging devices where you can see them. Never charge devices in overhead bins, and never charge e-cigarettes or vapes on a plane.

📲 Share these messages! Help us spread the word to keep our community safe.

🔥 Understanding READY • SET • GO

Wildfire season is part of life in Wyoming, and knowing the evacuation stages keeps your family one step ahead.

READY means prepare.
SET means stay alert.
GO means evacuate without delay.

Learning these stages now — before an emergency — helps everyone respond quickly and confidently when conditions change.

🚨 A Message from Cody Volunteer Fire Department 🚨

We have seen a rise in motorcycle accidents along the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway in the Sunlight Basin area. This stretch of road is one of the most beautiful in Wyoming, but right now, it’s also one of the most unpredictable.

Between winding mountain curves, cattle frequently crossing the roadway, and the recent severe lightning and thunderstorms, conditions have become especially dangerous for riders and drivers alike.

We’re asking our community and visitors to take a little extra care:
- Slow down through curves and blind corners
- Give motorcycles plenty of space
- Stay alert for livestock on the road
- Pull over during storms or low visibility
- Keep your eyes up and your attention sharp

Every safe choice you make helps protect someone’s life. We care deeply about the people who travel these roads ; locals, visitors, families, and riders who come here for the scenery we all love.

Let’s look out for one another and make sure everyone gets home safely. ❤️
