🚧 UPDATED CLOSURE LIST 🚧

Note: we have updated the closure list as we continue to assess damage from this weekend's storms. You may see Rangers and Maintenance workers moving equipment in these areas.

Thanks for giving our team space as we work to improve your trails experience! We will update the list as trails open.

With the storms over Memorial Day weekend, our Maintenance crew is working hard to clear some large trees and debris. To allow them the space to clear the trails quicker, we need to close down a few sections.

Current Closures:

🪧 Stone Mountain # 93
🪧 Coal Canyon # 49
🪧 Mountainview # 19 (Dan Hall)
🪧 Original Pocahontas # 1 and # 20 Intersection (Department of Energy work, stay CLEAR of this are)

We will update this list as the staff identifies more areas and clears them. If you come across a downed tree, please use our Hazard Reporting feature by clicking the link in the comment!

🇺🇸 For Our Military Heroes 🇺🇸

May we never forget the 1.2+ million Americans who laid down their lives so we may enjoy the freedoms of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

To the families who are grieving the loss of someone close, thank you for your sacrifice. To those American military members who know exactly what they signed up for and what the cost of fulfilling their duty may be, thank you for your bravery and courage.

The SRRA, Spearhead Trails and Dixon Range are proud to support military veterans and their families. Please join us this coming Saturday at the Range for our annual event honoring our heroes.

🌧️ RAIN or SHINE ☀️

We know our riders aren't afraid of a little rain. Remember, the trails stay open rain or shine! A few tips for riding in the rain:

💦 Water gets rushing FAST in the Appalachian Mountains. Don't take your machine through water where you can't tell the depth.
🎒 Take waterproof bags so you can secure your items.
⛈️If you see lightning, stay clear of open ridge lines and tall trees.
⏳ Remember, brakes take a little longer when the ground is wet. Know your machine!

🚧 Temporary Trail Closure 🚧

Original Pocahontas Trail # 1 is temporarily closed between Railroad Ave in Pocahontas and the intersection of Trail # 20.

This closure is due to Department of Energy drilling. Please avoid the area and use caution, as equipment will be in the area.

We do not know when they will complete their work, but we will update here as soon as we find out.

This route has been chosen to mitigate noise for the land owners and neighbors, one of the main reasons night riding is usually prohibited on our trails. If this goes well, hopefully we can do more in the future!
