There comes a point every summer when the whole house starts negotiating with the thermostat. 😤

Someone wants it cooler.
Someone else is thinking about the electric bill.

And before you know it, there’s a fan blowing over a bucket of ice like you’re trying to invent air conditioning in the Oregon Trail era.

😂 The funny part?

That summer AC use becomes a fall bill problem. 🍁
And fall already has enough going on:
📚 School expenses
🎁 Holiday planning
✈️ Travel
🍽️ Food
🤪 End-of-year everything

This past weekend gave us two reasons to celebrate:
👨 Father’s Day
☀️ The Summer Solstice
Which means dads and solar panels had something in common…

They both put in extra hours on the longest day of the year. 😄

One was out there grilling, fixing things, telling stories, and pretending they didn’t need directions.

The other was quietly cranking out clean energy from sunrise to sunset.
Coincidence?
Maybe.

But I can’t help noticing that both dads and solar panels seem to do their best work when the days are long. ☀️

Here’s to all the dads who keep showing up day after day.

And to the sunshine that makes summer pretty amazing.

Yesterday, our country honored Juneteenth.

A day that marks the moment freedom finally reached the last enslaved Americans in Texas, more than two years after emancipation had been declared.
That delay is part of what makes the day so powerful.

It reminds us that freedom, equality, and opportunity are not just ideas to celebrate once a year. They are values worth protecting, expanding, and carrying forward.

I believe progress happens when people care about their neighbors, listen to one another, and work together to create stronger communities.

So today, I’m taking a moment to reflect on the resilience behind this holiday, the history we share, and the diversity that helps make our country stronger.

Some environmental wins deserve a tiny French celebration. 🐝🇫🇷
France is standing by its ban on bee-killing pesticides, and the bees appear to be saying:

“Fêtons les abeilles!”
(Translation: let’s celebrate the bees.)

Also, translation: Maybe don’t poison the tiny creatures helping hold our food system together.
🐝 Bees pollinate.
🐝 Bees support biodiversity.
🐝 Bees quietly do heroic work while dressed like little striped interns.

Protecting them isn't controversial - It's essential to human life!
It should be common sense with wings.

A good community has a little bit of everything.
👉 People solving problems.
👉 People helping neighbors.
👉 People sharing ideas.
That’s what I enjoy most about working in renewable energy. Every project is really about helping someone take a little more control over their future.

Although I have to admit...
The goat business model is pretty compelling. 🐐😆

🌎 World Environment Day is a good reminder that sustainability doesn’t happen only on rooftops, in policy meetings, or in big climate reports.

🍝 Sometimes it starts at dinner.

The food system is one of the biggest drivers of climate impact, from farming and transportation to packaging and food waste.

And here’s the number that always gets me:
‼️ About one-third of all food produced globally is lost or wasted.

Yes, 1/3 😶

That means wasted water. Wasted energy. Wasted labor. More landfill emissions. More unnecessary packaging.

✊ But we have more power than we think.

Simple choices can help:
📋 Buy only what you need
🥙 Store leftovers without single-use plastic
🫜 Pick unpackaged fruits and veggies when available

As Memorial Day comes to a close, I keep thinking about how precious ordinary life really is.

Those things exist because countless people sacrificed more than we can ever repay.

I don’t believe remembering that has to come with anger or division.
