Welcome to Influence Coaching and Leadership Institute. We are experts in the coaching world, especially in helping individuals to become capable coaches and leaders.

40-hour INFLUENCE Certification Program

This program is for individuals who want to coach professionally, coach as a leader, help others learn to coach, or just feel called to help others grow.

This workshop teaches foundational coaching competence and gives you the skills and tools to confidently coach as a professional provider or business leader.

At the end of this workshop -- as a certified coach -- you will know how to use coaching skills to produce a sense of clarity and direction in others, as well as to direct your own steps into professional coaching if you choose.

Qualities of Effective Leaders: Part 1 🔥
Over the next few weeks we will be focusing on a few qualities of effective leaders.

Successful leaders demonstrate the following five leadership qualities in their personal and professional lives, inspiring others to take action and set a course for future success. Strong leaders also practice key behaviors on a regular basis in order to strengthen the positive impact of these qualities.

The first quality we are discussing is:
Being self-aware and prioritizing personal development.

👉 Effective leaders focus on developing their emotional intelligence. Leaders that work to refine this quality are more adaptive, resilient, and accepting of feedback from others. They are also effective listeners and open to change.

How can you work to strengthen this quality?
👉Retain awareness of your strengths, weaknesses, and any potential sources of bias that may impact your thinking and decision-making. Conduct self-assessments and seek feedback from your team, and set improvement goals with measurable targets in areas where you have room to grow.

If you want to influence someone’s behavior, consider exploring their metaphors.

Here’s what that means:

Everyone has their way of seeing the world, and even those who aren’t reflective use metaphors to describe their beliefs. That’s because metaphors are intuitive and somewhat universal. They’re powerful, creative shortcuts to the personal closet of perspective we’ve accumulated over time. Metaphors then provide a way for coaches (or leaders who coach) to understand others better.

With the right questions asked in the right way, a coach can use these stories, symbols or objects as leverage, prompting creative conversations that explore NEW possibilities.

Here’s an example. If someone says they’re “stuck in the mud,” a coach might ask:

• What’s on the other side of this mud?
• Why’s it important to get out of the mud?
• What have you learned about yourself and the situation from being in this mud?

It makes sense, doesn’t it? Instead of attempting to process with someone the myriad of details involved in a limiting belief, the coach simply meets them in their own home so to speak, exploring the closet of metaphors they live with, right along with the designer of those metaphors – their imagination.
