A big congratulations to Justin Shaw on earning his Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license!🎉

He’s already a Professional Engineer (PE) and Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM), and now he can officially add PLS to the list. Talk about a triple threat!

With expertise spanning engineering, floodplain management, and surveying, Justin brings an impressive range of knowledge to the HMH team and the projects we deliver for our clients. Congratulations, Justin, on this well-deserved accomplishment!

Today is 8/11 Day!

Underground utility locating is an important part of the Construction Engineering & Inspection (CE&I) work we do on projects throughout our communities. Before digging begins, calling 811 helps identify and mark underground utilities, protecting crews, infrastructure, and the public while keeping construction moving safely.

From what’s above ground to what’s below it, a lot goes into building a successful project. Remember to call 811 before you dig!

Project Spotlight: Low Line Canal Bridge🚧

HMH recently completed the design and construction inspection for the Low Line Canal Bridge Project near Filer, Idaho.

The project replaced an existing 87-foot-long, two-span bridge with a new 115-foot-long, single-span rolled weathering steel bridge featuring eight composite beams. The project also included approximately 400 feet of gabion retaining walls, reaching up to 12 feet in height, as well as roadway improvements, hot-mix asphalt pavement, and roadside safety improvements.

Summer is in full swing, and with temperatures climbing into the triple digits in parts of Idaho this week, we're reminding our field crews, and everyone working outdoors, to stay safe.☀️💧

Drink plenty of water, wear sunscreen, take breaks in the shade when possible, and watch for signs of heat-related illness. A safe job site starts with looking out for yourself and your team!

Happy National Rivers Month!

Rivers and streams do more than move water. They provide critical habitat for fish and wildlife, support local communities, and often intersect with the roads and infrastructure we rely on every day.

At HMH Engineering, we're proud to help reconnect waterways through fish passage and Aquatic Organism Passage (AOP) projects that improve habitat, restore stream connectivity, and enhance infrastructure resilience throughout Idaho and the Pacific Northwest.

Our integrated team provides:
• Survey and geomatics
• Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis
• Geotechnical engineering
• Fisheries and habitat assessment
• Stream restoration and natural channel design
• Bridge and culvert design
• Environmental permitting and agency coordination
• Construction engineering and inspection

From stream simulation culverts and bottomless arches to bridge replacements and stream restoration, we help communities develop infrastructure that works with natural systems rather than against them.

Here's to healthy rivers, thriving ecosystems, and infrastructure designed to support both.

We had a great time this week at the Association of Idaho Cities (AIC) Conference connecting with mayors, clerks, council members, and local leaders from across the state.

It was a valuable opportunity to discuss how HMH Engineering can support Idaho communities through drinking water system improvements, land use planning, general engineering services, and other infrastructure solutions.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to connect with our team!
