The members of the Coldspring Volunteer Fire Department extend our deepest condolences to our brothers and sisters at the Shepherd Volunteer Fire Department, and especially to the family and loved ones of Firefighter Samuel Pate.
Losing a firefighter is a loss felt throughout the entire fire service. Sam dedicated so much of his young life to serving his community, answering calls, training, and standing beside his brothers and sisters at Shepherd VFD. His service and the impact he made will not be forgotten.
Our hearts are with Sam’s wife, child, family, and the entire Shepherd VFD family during this incredibly difficult time. Please know that your brothers and sisters at CVFD are standing with you, keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers.
Rest easy, Brother Sam. Your watch is over.
It is with heavy hearts that the members of the Shepherd VFD announce the untimely passing of one of our firefighters, Samuel Pate. Sam joined the Shepherd VFD as a Junior member while still in High School. He then transitioned into the Shepherd VFD as a senior member 2 days after his 18th birthday.
During his tenure with Shepherd VFD, Sam held the positions of Junior Firefighter, Firefighter, Lieutenant and Second Assistant Chief. This is quite an accomplishment for such a young man.
Sam was an invaluable member and put countless hours into training for, and responding to, emergency calls. Outside of the department he enjoyed hunting, fishing and anything outdoors. Sam loved his family, you could see it everything he did.
Sam was more than our friend, he was our brother. Sam will be missed not only here at the Department, but also in our everyday lives. Our thoughts and prayers go to his family, wife and young child, they have shared Sam with us for 10 years.
R.I.P.
Samuel Pate
