It’s taken me over a week to recoup from our first-ever BHS Skills Summit, but I’m still feeling incredibly thankful for the turnout and support!

Putting this event together for the first year, I was excited to see who would come out—and you all made it something special. We had everyone from first-time shooters to longtime veterans, all coming together to learn, build skills, and have some fun.

One of my favorite parts was meeting new faces and getting to know the people who joined us. Seeing folks encourage each other, gain confidence, and enjoy their time on the range made all the work worthwhile.

Another big thank-you to Savior Equipment for their generous donation and support of our first summit! I’ve also been really impressed with their Apollo ear protection, and I appreciate having the opportunity to introduce people to their gear.

To everyone who attended, helped out, shared our posts, or encouraged us along the way thank you. You helped make our first year something to be proud of, and I’m excited to build on it!

Yesterday, on the 25th anniversary of September 11th, al-Qaeda released a new propaganda video.

We aren't sharing their video. They don't need our help spreading their message.

But we do think it provides an opportunity to talk about something important:

Your family should have a plan.

That doesn't mean living scared. It doesn't mean seeing a threat around every corner. And it certainly doesn't mean allowing terrorists, criminals, or anyone else to dictate how we live our lives.

It means accepting that bad things can happen and deciding ahead of time what you will do if they do.

Talk with your family.

Where would you meet if you became separated?

Do your children know who to call?

When you walk into a restaurant, church, store, sporting event, or theater, do you know where the exits are?

If something happened in a crowded public place, does your family know whether to run, hide, or defend themselves?

Do you have basic medical supplies and more importantly, do you know how to use them?

Does everyone understand that during an emergency, the priority may simply be getting out, getting safe, and reconnecting afterward?

These aren't conversations meant to create fear.

They're conversations meant to reduce it.

You cannot predict every emergency. You cannot prepare for every possibility. But you can develop awareness, skills, and a plan that give you options when something goes wrong.

Live your life. Take your family places. Enjoy your community. Refuse to live in fear.

Just don't confuse living without fear with living unprepared.

Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We honor the first responders who ran toward danger, the ordinary Americans who displayed extraordinary courage, and the families who continue to carry the weight of that day.

May we never forget the sacrifice, unity, and courage shown in our nation’s darkest hours.
