Procurement Forester
Full Time Position

Rutland Lumber Company is an independent sawmill, located, in Collins, MS. This is a growing company with a loyal customer base and well-earned reputation for high quality and superior service.

Currently we have an opening for an experienced Procurement Forester. Applicants should have verifiable experience as a Procurement Forester, with a strong work ethic, and superior workmanship. Our company provides excellent wages and benefits.

Qualifications
• BS in Forestry – Registered Forester
• Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in timber procurement and logging operations
• Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, Internet, and Email
• Strong negotiating, analytical, and communication skills
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record

Responsibilities
• Timber Procurement – Identify, cruise, appraise, and purchase standing timber (stumpage) and negotiate delivered wood
• Relationship Management – Build and maintain long-term relationships with landowners, timber dealers, contractors, and loggers.
• Contract Administration – Develop, negotiate, and execute timber contracts, draw up timber deeds and record at courthouse, ensuring compliance with sustainability and understand and provide certification standards (SFI/FSC)
• Harvest Oversight – Supervise logging operations, ensuring safety, environmental compliance (Best management Practices), and proper log utilization.
• Logistics & Inventory – manage wood flow to the mill, manage inventories, provide monthly inventory, adapt and adjust strategies based on market conditions.
• Communication – provide daily and weekly reports of travel, job bids, market conditions, and contract completion dates.

Sawyer Job Description
To manufacture green hardwood lumber from logs using state of the art carriages and scanning equipment. Determine optimum opening face to maximize value and fulfill cutting order and production requirements. Ensure the quality of the lumber is held to our company standards.
Requirements
• Ability to determine and execute the optimum cutting pattern for breaking down logs
• To perform minor maintenance (change saw blades, lubricate equipment, broken chain, broken hoses, crossed up lumber or jam ups)
• Ability to work in a fast pace environment
• Ability to quickly adapt
• Good communication skills

Education and Experience
• Working knowledge of NHLA lumber grades

Full Job Description
Rutland Lumber Company is accepting applications for a Full Time Knuckle Boom Operator. Ideal candidates for this position will have experience with heavy equipment found in log yards or logging. Experienced operators will work outdoors under the direction of the Mill Manager and Procurement Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Operate track loader type vehicle equipment with a grapple and ground saw to cut logs to length and unload cut to length and tree length logs.
• Load and unload logs from incoming log trucks.
• Separate and stack logs according to species.
• May assist with front end loader and other duties pertaining to the log yard.
• Perform all additional duties assigned by supervisor.
• Operate in a safe manner in accordance with work safe rules, regulations, and policies.
• Recognize and eliminate safety hazards.
Education and Experience
• Have a high school diploma or GED.
• Understanding of Sawmill/Log Yard Operations and lumber manufacturing processes
• Heavy Equipment experience – 3 years or more.
Skills
• Demonstrate excellent attendance.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Commitment to working safely coupled with strong communication & interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision.

Millwright Job Responsibilities
Ability to perform production maintenance job responsibilities in a safe manner following the company policies and relating to the employee, other team members and the assets of the company.
Tasks will include routine maintenance and repair associated with bearings, shafts, chains, conveyors, belts, sprockets, electric motors, and related lumber manufacturing equipment.
Machine center troubleshooting.
Welding, cutting to repair or fabricate parts.
Repair, assembly, preventative and predictive maintenance on various sawmill equipment.
Effective communication with other team members and management.
Required Skills
Must have a thorough working knowledge of mechanical operations used in the industry. Must show knowledge of mechanical repairs, welding and hydraulics, good manual dexterity, versatility, good physical endurance. Strong troubleshooting skills.
Must have a working knowledge relate to the proper alignment of bearings, repairing or replacing chains; belt conveyors; gear boxes/drive chains; hydraulics & pneumatics; welding/cutting; and using power tools necessary for the day to day functioning of the millwright position.
Must have ability to work in a team environment have good work habits and a solid attendance history.
Ability to meet physical requirements of the job including standing, climbing, bending, and lifting occasionally up to 50 lbs. or more. Exposure to ambient temperatures.
Required Experience
Relevant training or experience as a Millwright, Maintenance Mechanic or in Mechanical or Industrial Maintenance. 3 or more years’ relevant experience in sawmill or similar production or manufacturing equipment maintenance. High school diploma or GED.
