Why am I still paying after I hit my deductible?! 😵💫
Because your deductible and coinsurance are two different things.
Think of it this way:
💰 Deductible: The amount you pay before your plan starts sharing certain costs.
🤝 Coinsurance: Once you hit that deductible, you and your insurance company may split the bill — think 80/20.
🛑 Out-of-Pocket Maximum: The finish line. Once you reach it through covered, in-network expenses, your plan generally pays 100% of covered in-network services for the rest of the plan year.
Insurance language can feel like a foreign language. That’s why having a broker who will actually explain your benefits matters.
