In honor of Kitchen Klutzes of America Day...

A reminder that not everyone is meant to be a chef.

Some people make incredible spreadsheets.
Some people reconcile accounts like superheroes.
Some people can navigate payroll deadlines with their eyes closed.

And some people accidentally set off the smoke detector making toast.

Know your strengths.

Outsource the rest.

Happy Kitchen Klutzes of America Day from Terry and the team at Savvion. 💛

P.S. Terry would like everyone to know the grilled cheese incident was "completely under control."

Ever found yourself asking:

Can I afford to hire?
Is now the time to expand?
Should I invest in new equipment?

If your books are behind, every answer becomes a guess.

Accurate financials don't just tell you where you've been. They help you decide where you're going.

The better the data, the better the decisions.

Are you making business decisions from books you can actually trust?

Many small business owners start with DIY QuickBooks and do their best to manage the numbers themselves. But over time, small mistakes can turn into messy books, confusing reports, and costly decisions.

QuickBooks Cleanup Bootcamp: Stop Making Decisions from Bad Books was created to help business owners spot common QuickBooks issues before they become bigger problems.

Join us for a practical Lunch & Learn on July 9 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Lunch will be provided.

This class is for business owners, founders, nonprofit leaders, office managers, and anyone who relies on QuickBooks reports but is not totally confident the numbers are right.

An AI-generated legal handbook delivered truly bad advice, including illegal guidance. It even suggested no cap on jury duty wages! Pushback was necessary with the attorney to correct this basic error. Colorado Law Group

🥢 National Egg Roll Day has arrived.

And if there's one thing we know, it's that some of the best conversations don't happen in conference rooms.

They happen over lunch.

Today's challenge:
Take a coworker, employee, client, or fellow business owner to a local restaurant and celebrate with an egg roll (or three).

Supporting small businesses while building relationships?

That's a combination we can get behind.

Small business owners are often told to “just use QuickBooks.”

So they do.

They set it up, start categorizing transactions, run reports, and try to stay on top of the numbers while also managing customers, employees, payroll, taxes, and everything else that comes with running a business.

Then, somewhere along the way, the reports stop making sense.

The bank balance does not match.
Transactions are sitting in limbo.
Expenses are miscategorized.
Accounts have not been reconciled.
The numbers feel unreliable.

And suddenly, the owner is trying to make real business decisions from books they are not sure they can trust.

That is why we created QuickBooks Cleanup Bootcamp: Stop Making Decisions from Bad Books.

This Lunch & Learn is designed for business owners who want to understand the common QuickBooks issues that create messy books, confusing reports, and costly mistakes. You do not need to be a bookkeeping expert. This class is built to help you recognize red flags, understand what may be going wrong, and know what steps to take next.

Date: July 9
Time: 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM
Lunch provided

If you are a business owner relying on QuickBooks, we would love to have you join us.

It's uncanny how employee behavior seems to go off the rails around the full moon. We've noticed a significant spike in CRM entries and erratic behavior, and it's almost always linked to the lunar cycle. This isn't just a feeling; the data points to a measurable impact on happiness and peace. Check out our conversation with Chris Colorado Law Group

One of the harder truths of business ownership is that not everyone understands when your generosity starts costing you.

Especially friends.

It is painful when someone you love starts coming to you for “quick advice,” “just your thoughts,” or “one little question,” and suddenly your expertise, time, and emotional labor become expected instead of appreciated.

And then comes the part nobody talks about enough:

You have to say no.

Not because you do not care.
Not because you do not want to help.
Not because the friendship does not matter.

But because your work has value. Your time has value. Your experience has value.

And sometimes the most honest thing you can do for the friendship is set the boundary before quiet resentment starts moving in and rearranging the furniture.

In this episode of Show Me Yours, Brian and I talk about how excruciating it can be to tell a friend no when they are expecting complimentary business advice or guidance, and why boundaries are sometimes the thing that protect the relationship.

One of the best parts of running a business isn't the spreadsheets, payroll reports, or tax returns.

It's the people.

The clients who become friends.
The employees who become family.
The business owners who cheer each other on.
The community that shows up when it matters most.

Happy Best Friends Day from all of us at Savvion. 💛

We're grateful to be part of an incredible community of small businesses.

People ask us all the time how we do it.

Married.
Business partners.
Podcast co-hosts.
Constantly together.

And honestly?

We like each other. A lot.

That does not mean it is always easy. It means we have built enough trust, humor, respect, and shared vision to keep choosing each other in the middle of the work, the stress, the decisions, the mistakes, and the “wait, did we already talk about this or was that a dream?” moments.

In this episode, Brian and I joke about what it is like to spend this much time together, but underneath the joke is something we really believe:

Relationships matter.
Liking the people you build with matters.
And business gets a whole lot better when you actually enjoy the person sitting next to you.

New episode of Show Me Yours is out now.
