Last week, the Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC was honored to join Early Connections Learning Centers for the ribbon cutting for the new Alice Bemis Taylor Center for Early Education.

This newly renovated location offers a beautiful and convenient setting for 140 children, including infants and toddlers, in the heart of Downtown Colorado Springs, supporting high-quality learning in a warm and welcoming environment.

Childcare is a critical aspect of a community’s vitality, as it allows a city to compete for jobs, attract talent, and support working families. El Paso County faces a shortage of 17,000 childcare slots, but when philanthropy, government, nonprofits, and the business community work together, we can tackle our biggest challenges.

Congratulations to Liz Denson and the whole Early Connections team on this milestone and the impact you’ll have on Colorado Springs families, as well as to the El Pomar Foundation for your leadership and partnership.

Congratulations to Dylan Palmer Merritt of Encore Electric, Inc., who was recently recognized with the Outstanding Apprentice Award by Apprenticeship Colorado and the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment.

Thanks to Encore’s paid, four-year apprenticeship program that combines classroom learning with hands-on experience, Palmer Merritt has been able to make an impact on the Colorado Springs community in a career path that was the right fit for his strengths.
