When cops do good, it rarely makes the news but this is one story of the good that may surprise you.
It started as I was growing up in a family of hillbilly entrepreneurs with multiple business enterprises including a candy store, ice cream trucks and
a water sports business.
It may sound ideal but there was a dark side. My Dad was a felon and had a love/hate relationship with cops.
He loved that they would chase, but rarely catch him, and yet he hated it when they finally did landing
him in jail.
When I was 16 years I followed the footsteps of my business-minded family and started a cannabis dispensary, back when it was very illegal.
Cash was flowing by the fistful until one day 5 police cars roared up to our house in the early morning hours with blue lights flashing.
While all the contraband was loaded up, the police chief pulled me aside and said this…
“if you ever decide to do a legal business, I think you will do very well”
At 16 I did not appreciate the wisdom. and yet with a single sentence, this cop changed my life.
Years later and after creating a legal business with millions of dollars in sales, I appreciate this moment of transformation.
The reason I share is to illustrate that positive transformation can come from places you least expect.
The things you despise, that seem to hold you back in life can be transformed into a strength.
What about you? What is the “thing” inside of you that if embraced might cause you to “do very well”?
