🚩🔥CRITICAL FIRE ALERT FOR SOUTHEAST COLORADO 🔥🚩
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for our area today, Saturday, June 20, from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
Conditions are dangerous today, and any outdoor fire could quickly spin out of control.
🛑 What to Expect Today:
High Winds: Southwest winds at 15 to 25 mph, with powerful gusts hitting up to 40 mph.
Bone-Dry Air: Relative humidity will drop as low as 8%.
High Risk: Because it is so hot, dry, and windy, fires will start easily and spread incredibly fast.
📍 Affected Areas Include:
Colorado Springs, Fort Carson, Pueblo, Walsenburg, Trinidad, La Junta, Ordway, Teller County, and the surrounding plains and mountains.
⚠️ What You Need to Do:
NO outdoor burning of any kind (including campfires, yard waste, or trash).
Avoid using equipment that creates sparks, like lawnmowers or chainsaws, during the driest parts of the day.
Do not park vehicles on dry grass—hot exhaust pipes can start a fire instantly.
Dispose of ci******es safely and never throw them out of car windows.
Stay alert, stay safe, and report any signs of smoke or fire immediately by calling 911.
