I made the decision to become a Health Coach upon undergoing my own personal transformation and journey of overcoming my own personal health concerns. I have battled through and concurred weight issues, physical limitations, and have found mental wellbeing and happiness. I have transformed my life and now am helping others to transform theirs. It is my mission to lead and empower othe

I am currently enrolled at Institute for Integrative Nutrition where I am receiving training to become Certified as a Health Coach. I would like to share with you information that I have found of value to myself and others. Great food prep tips for fruit!!

Let's talk about weekly fruit prep.
Nature's candy!
All of our children would eat more of it, if they had easy access to clean fresh fruit. But how to keep it fresh once it's prepped?

***Fresh Berry Prep:
(Buy in larger quantities when on sale/or in season. You can freeze the extra! Btw...purchasing FROZEN berries is an excellent way to save time & money. Frozen fruit is great for smoothies and retains it's nutritional value.

***Rinse berries and grapes with a Tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to a cup of cool fresh water- rinse again & let dry well then store in glass jars (let air dry VERY well first). I have found that if the berries/grapes are truly ready to grab & eat, we use them faster. I’m more likely to throw them on oatmeal on busy mornings, or as a snack if they are all ready.

***The apple cider vinegar is an excellent natural cleaning agent, that I believe prolongs the life of the berries...if you let them air dry completely before stroring.
Another tip, is placing a folded paper towel on the top/inside you glass jar, to absorb moisture.
These berries usually last me 4-5 days in the refrigerator when stored correctly. Moisture is the enemy.😈

***How to prep apple slices for the week ahead so that they don't turn brown:
Soak slices in a large bowl of cold lemon water. This method works better than squeezing the lemon directly on the apples. Plus, they won't be super lemony.
Ratio: 1 tablespoon of lemon juice per 1 cup of water.
These usually last about a week in the refrigerator when stored correctly.

***Cube melon, and store refrigerated in glass for 4-5 days.
