Another Home Ready for the Future!

We recently completed a 200-amp electrical service upgrade along with a new dedicated circuit for a heat pump installation here in Colorado.

This project included:

-New 200-amp all-in-one service equipment
-Dedicated circuit for the new heat pump
-Surface-mounted EMT conduit installation
-New disconnect installation
-Grounding and bonding upgrades
-Whole-home surge protection
-Electrical permit and inspection

As more homeowners transition to heat pumps, EV chargers, and other high-demand electrical equipment, many older electrical services simply aren't designed to handle the additional load safely.

If you're planning a home renovation, HVAC replacement, EV charger, hot tub, or other major electrical upgrade, it's worth having your electrical service evaluated before installation begins.

At JMS Electric, we perform clean, code-compliant installations built to last.

💰 You could save thousands replacing your Federal Pacific electrical panel.

Here's something many homeowners—and even some contractors—don't realize.

Within the PPRBD jurisdiction, a Federal Pacific panel can be replaced with a one-for-one panel swap instead of requiring a complete electrical service upgrade.

Why does that matter?

A full service upgrade typically means installing an exterior main disconnect, modifying or replacing the meter equipment, bringing the meter height into compliance, coordinating with the utility, and performing additional work that adds significant cost.

A one-for-one panel replacement removes the Federal Pacific panel, installs a new modern panel, and brings the grounding system up to current requirements—without all of the additional work associated with a full service upgrade.

If your home has a Federal Pacific panel, it may be worth understanding this option before committing to a much more expensive project.

If you're not sure what panel you have, send me a picture. I'm happy to take a look.
