As we head into fall, it's a good time to take a fresh look around the home for small things that could create a bigger risk for an older loved one.

Loose rugs, poor lighting, cluttered walkways, slippery bathroom floors, or even reaching for something on a high shelf can increase the chance of a fall.

And while caregivers can provide support with mobility and everyday routines, preventing falls starts with creating an environment where older adults can move around with greater confidence.

💜🐾 What a special day at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and a HUGE thank you to my amazing team at Homewatch Caregivers!

We were honored to host the Dog Station and spend the day handing out pup cups, giving belly rubs, and spreading a little extra joy to all the amazing pups and their people. 🐶💜

There was something so heartwarming about seeing our community come together—walking, remembering loved ones, supporting families, and showing up for such an important cause.

We loved being a small part of a day filled with so much love, hope, compassion…and plenty of happy dogs! 🐾💜

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to see us and to everyone who came out to support the fight to end Alzheimer’s. We’re grateful to be part of this wonderful community! 💜

What is personal care? 💙

When everyday routines become a little more difficult, personal care provides hands-on support while helping older adults maintain their dignity and independence.

Depending on individual needs, that support may include help with:
- Bathing and grooming
- Dressing
- Toileting and personal hygiene
- Mobility and transferring
- Eating and mealtime assistance
- Other daily routines

Sometimes, all it takes is the right question to bring back a joyful memory. 💙

Eloise Hastings, owner of Homewatch CareGivers of Colorado Springs, recently led a seminar at Liberty Heights focused on loneliness and social isolation—and what started as an educational conversation quickly became something much more meaningful. During the discussion, Eloise asked residents to share a memorable trip they'd taken. Stories began flowing, and one resident shared:

"I'm so glad you asked that question. Otherwise, I would have never thought about it, and it brought such joy to remember it." That moment says so much.

Meaningful connection doesn't always require something big. Sometimes it's simply asking a question, taking the time to listen, and giving someone the opportunity to share a piece of their story.

The group had such a wonderful time talking and connecting that no one wanted the conversation to end—and everyone agreed: we need more of this. 💙
