This is why you don't fasten solid a breadboard end! This is the ash table I made for us. The table has shrunk and now the breadboard ends are protruding over a 1/16th of an inch on each side! I used the Festool Domino to attach it and allow for movement. It's working great!

Finally completed the table and got it moved into our house! Fastened the top with clips, thanks to . This is a solid ash table with the top about 1 3/4" thick. Used a mixture of water based stains and also their water based poly, absolutely love their products and can't recommend them enough! And thank you for the table plans that I tweaked a little!

Was able to finish the base and top today with high performance water based poly, can't say enough good things about this! Also, borrowed a friends Flexio 590 to spray on the poly, it was awesome! The table is almost complete!

There is definitely a learning curve with water based stains. The first picture is finally a finish that I'm satisfied with. The second picture is half way through sanding off my first attempt at staining the table top (kind of neat looking though!). water based stains are awesome! Love not having the smell of oil based, easy clean up, and it dries really quick! Tip for application: first - wet the surface a small amount with water so the stain doesn't dry really fast, second - use terry cloth covered furniture stain pads to apply the stain, third - spread it on fast and even, fourth - keep rubbing it down lightly to a nice finish!

Made some stain samples with some ash cutoffs I had from the table. Still have a few more to make and then decision time! Water based stains are absolutely amazing! Easy to apply, great colors, and no smell at all. I highly recommend them!
