What was your reason for starting? For most of us it was this…to save animals. We knew we couldn’t save them all from the beginning of our careers, but we can’t save them if we don’t take care of ourselves first! We are a couple of weeks into the new year and while many of people are focusing on newly founded resolutions, perhaps we should instead create new habits focused on self care and compassion. Please take care of yourselves and each other this year!

I've been there! After 2 decades in the veterinary field, I understand the daily stressors that we all deal with. After dealing with my own compassion fatigue and burnout, I decided something had to change. That something was me! How I looked at each situation and how I took care of myself!

Today is a day when I am reminded to be grateful for the experiences, things and most importantly the people in my life. Each and every member of the veterinary community is valued and I am so thankful that there are individuals like you in the world to give voices to the voiceless and make this world a better place.
