Yesterday I had the privilege of serving as a panelist at the AMA Baltimore 2026 Collegiate Career Connections Workshop at Morgan State University's Earl G. Graves School of Business and Management, and I left the room genuinely inspired.
The theme, "Marketing in the Age of AI: From Classroom to Career Connections," wasn't just a tagline. It was the through line of every conversation in that room.
🏆 Here's my takeaway: AI literacy is no longer a bonus skill for new marketers. It's the baseline expectation.
A huge thank you to Takisha Toler, Ph.D., Keith Story, and the entire planning team for orchestrating an experience that went far beyond a typical networking event. Students weren't just collecting business cards; they were walking away with AI prompts, practical frameworks, and a real roadmap from student to professional.
Shoutout to Microsoft keynote speakers Jenelle Davis, MBA and Skylar Dunn, MBA, and a special thank you to Skylar who flew in from Las Vegas (on his own dime) because he believed in showing up for the next generation. That kind of investment in students says everything.
To my fellow board member Moni Oloyede, the resume tips and networking insights you shared were pure gold. And to my co-panelist Westley Ritz, let's just say we brought a little Yin and Yang energy to the AI conversation. 😄
To the students who showed up, thank you for investing in yourselves. You now have a clearer picture of how AI is reshaping the marketing landscape and what it means for your career path.
The opportunities ahead of you are real, and you are more prepared than you know.
