Thank you to Edventure Children’s Museum for this beautiful collaboration and for welcoming our STEAM Scholars into such a meaningful space.

Partnering with organizations that share a genuine commitment to curiosity, exploration, and hands-on discovery is something we never take for granted. What happened in that space was special, and it would not have been possible without your vision and generosity.

To every STEAM Scholar who showed up and brought grandparents, parents, and other loved ones alongside them. You made this experience something far greater than we imagined. Watching generations learn together, ask questions together, and discover together is the very heart of this work. Thank you for showing up fully and bringing your people with you.

The Unity Table is finished, and it is home in the Georgetown and Horry community.

Built by hand by Master Artisan Shimshown Ciphrah from reclaimed oak. The plate on top reads Gullah Community. Set into the wood, in his own words: "Our destination? Preservation."

What comes next is a meal at that table. On Sandy Island, or at another Gullah community center, so the table does what it was built to do. We will let you know when.

A meal at Wilma's Cottage by Laura Herriott. Drumming and breath with Jon "Dieselz" Smalls. Schoolhouse history with Ms. Sarah Deas. Capt. Rommy Pyatt got everybody there and back.

On June 5, 2026, seventy two of us crossed to Sandy Island for The Community Table, hosted by the Gullah Preservation Society of Georgetown with Joyner Institute for Gullah and African Diaspora Studies and Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor National Heritage Area. Concept developed by Harper and Regina Ciphrah. Verbalizing Visions led the evaluation and made the films.

I am grateful to facilitate a meaningful learning experience with this dynamic group of educators from New Providence Island, Bahamas during their visit to Columbia SC hosted by the ICAN Center. Today is Day 1 of 3 of the “Curriculum to Careers: A STEM Conference for Secondary Educators–Staying Ahead of the Industry.” https://contactezradavis4.wixsite.com/my-site-3

Verbalizing Visions worked alongside the ICAN Center to kick off the conference with opportunities to explore innovative learning environments and workforce-connected pathways with STEM Day at The Capitol, Silicon South/Compass Labs, Hahn Automation, and the Mechatronics Training Center at Midlands Tech Northeast. These field experiences were designed to allow educators to see what is possible and consider how similar ideas may be adapted within their own school communities.

I wish our Bahamian colleagues safe travels home, energized with new insights, strengthened networks, and inspiration that will continue to shape student opportunities in the Bahamas!
