It has always been the purpose of this site to encourage citizen to BE citizen. I do not believe there is anything more imperative in our politics, and our civil discourse than TRUTH.
This is not about your particular faith identity, your sexual identity. This is all about your national identity. What faith excuses untruth? What political identity accepts mistruth as a matter of normal course?
What form of American citizenship expects, or accepts lies from the elected as a matter of course? I say that there is none.
If we do not tell the truth in our civil discourse, what can we ever hope to achieve as citizen in the efforts to continue to establish a more perfect union? And under what circumstance can we possibly believe that our obligation to our democracy includes treason?
I see none. How do you possibly accept the current situation among our electeds as a matter of national peace and tranquility? I do not accept this cancer among our democracy as acceptable or normal. I never, ever will.
As always, I have but one question for any citizen reading these words:
What are YOU going to do about it?
So far, and especially among the GOP, faith groups, and political lobbyists, the response is a clear and convincing "Nothing! I do not care about the truth; I care about position and power!"
Of what consequence is power is truth is the first victim of it?
That's what I think. Tell me, what do YOU think?
