Florida’s population soared between 2021 and 2023, making it the fastest-growing state during much of that period. The warm climate, lack of state income tax and less business regulation than in many other states made it a hotbed for corporate relocations and new residents.

But surging insurance costs, high mortgage rates and high home prices have more people reassessing the Florida dream. Tropical storms and hurricanes, increasingly hitting the state’s western coast, are making matters worse.

“I can’t unload the thing,” said one homeowner in Tampa who's dropped the price on his house five times since listing it February. “In eight months, I’ve had zero offers. No one even showed up to the open houses. Nobody.”

Louisville KY- John McAllister served as a Judge for the 2023 APEX Producers Awards by the REALTORS® Land Institute. RLI CEO Aubrie Kobernus and Land Report’s Co-founders Eddie Lee Rider Jr. and Eric O’Keefe presented the awards at a special awards ceremony on Tuesday, March 12, during RLI’s 2024 National Land Conference (NLC24) in Louisville, KY.

All land professionals recognized as part of the RLI APEX Producers Club are active members of RLI and have at least $5M dollars of qualifying dollar volume in closed land sales in 2023. The APEX Awards Program celebrated its seventh year by welcoming 199 applicants totaling a combined $6.05+ billion in qualifying transaction volume, 7,528 transaction sides, and 961,248 acres sold.
