GREEN VALLEY SEED NOVEMBER 2024 HIGHLIGHTS:

Green Valley Seed Awarded a Registered Trademark

In 2022 we applied for a registered trademark for the Green Valley Seed name. After many refusals, appeals and legal bills we’ve finally received our registered trademark from the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Our seed and fertilizer bags are being updated to include the ® symbol.

Test Plots for Stock Mixes

In the first week of September we planted test plots in our front yard in Columbiana with six of our stock seed mixes. With plenty of watering during our dry September, the plots filled in nicely. This display gives our customers a visual of what our most popular mixes look like. All of the mixes right now look somewhat similar in this infancy state, but by next June, these plots will start to differentiate from one another. The test plots consist of the following mixes:

• Heavy Duty Shade (which will be left unmowed)
• Pro III
• Reduced Water 30/70 Blue Rye
• Elite
• Reduced Water Tuff Turf
• Reduced Water Tall Fescue Blend

Urea (46-0-0 fertilizer)

Urea (46-0-0 fertilizer) can be used to melt snow and ice instead of rock salt and other products. Urea is not corrosive on concrete surfaces like rock salt. We’ve all seen road salt drip off our cars and trucks and corrode concrete on driveways and garages. Urea / Nitrogen is a volatile element and after it melts snow and ice, it will dissolve in the water and wash away, or on flat surfaces, will volatize into the air on a sunny day. Every winter we sell pallets of urea that are used for helipads at hospitals, sidewalks, businesses, etc.
