Construction began this week on our airport's newest general aviation hangar! It replaces a former dilapidated pole-barn type structure that over time became termite food and a liability. While there was partial grant funding for the project, there was significant contribution from both City of Columbus and Lowndes County. We appreciate once again our local leadership recognizing the airport's needs and supporting it's continued growth. More to come!

Aerial Solutions, based out of Tabor City, NC is a helicopter service specializing in right-of-way tree trimming. They operate about a dozen aircraft, with two operating near by in the days ahead. Here a mechanic is working through the night to complete the aircraft's 100 HR inspection. This 1981 Hughes carries a large multiple disk saw weighing around 900 lbs.

Today, PHI pilot Mike Gross's career comes to a close as he is ready to "take it easy". His flying adventures include nearly 20 years with not only PHI Air Medical Columbus MS, but with other area bases as well as many years flying for the Alabama Highway Patrol, racking up thousands of hours in the air.
