As we enter into Black Maternal Health Week, let our voices together say Black birthing people deserve respectful, culturally centered care, thriving births, and full-circle support.

Black birth keepers, advocates, healers, and silent soilders, we hold space, we uplift voices, and we challenge a system that too often silences Black women and families.

This week and every week!! We celebrate the resilience and joy of Black motherhood, while calling attention to the urgent need for equity and accountability in maternal health.

To every Black doula: THANK YOU. Your presence saves lives. Your care shapes generations.

And a big THANK YOU, to the families that have trusted this Black doula to support you and your familiy in the ways that made a difference to you and for you 🥹🩵

Good morning,

CelebrateOne is forming a Doula workforce development advisory group for Central Ohio doulas (trained or certified), organizations, trainers, and Managers.

Some the topics to cover are:


State of Ohio Doula certification

Self-care and Well-being

Financial awareness: What fees cause barriers in this space and what does it cost to be in this space

Doula trainings/ Continued education and development skills

Client care and Experience

Data

Level of support needed at a local level

Did you know there are types of Doulas?

I will list a few below but no matter what each Doulas targeted focus is the standard care are the items below.

Informational, Emotional, Physical, Advocacy, Continuous Individualized care for the client and their support. Prioritizing the whole person’s needs.

Full Spectrum Doulas:
They offer support from: preconception,pregnancy, birth, postpartum to miscarriage, abortion ,and adoption.

Antepartum Doula:
They support high risk mommas and birthing people, you can utilize this type of doula for complications that require extra support.
*
Birth Doula:
They support pregnant mommas and birthing people during; different stages of pregnancy, prenatal period, labor, delivery and some time during postpartum.
*
Postpartum Doula:
They provide support after birth. Helping families ease into their parenthood journey rather it’s the 1st or 5th journey. This doula can provide (give) more intimate support in; breastfeeding, bathing, swaddling, cleaning and/or cooking.
*
Abortion Doula:
This doula is for you in all the ways of information, emotional, and physical support before,during ,and after. It’s okay the support is confidential,safe,and non-judging.
*
Transition Doula: They have an abundance (a lot) of knowledge (information) regarding gender-affirming transitions this includes but not limited to hormone,non-medical, and herbal transitions.
