Deborah Grace Photography Couple + Wedding Photographer for the free-spirited + wildly in love. Hey there! I'm Deborah. I digress. Back to photography, and the reason I do what I do.

Deborah Grace, actually, but no one calls me that on a regular basis, except for my husband when I've done something that he finds especially appalling and it warrants pulling out the second name. I love people, and I love art. I love photography because it gives me the opportunity to live out two of the things I'm most passionate about: creativity and relationships. I love meeting new people, and

getting to know what makes them tick and brings them alive. Creativity flows naturally out of my desire to simply show others the life and beauty I see within them. I'd be honored to meet you and capture your story through the wonder of photography.

Maddi & Alex!

To say it was an honor to document this one is an understatement. I loved getting to capture these two and their people. šŸ¤

Their ceremony was held in a wooded grove, secluded and nestled away between farm fields. Guests were chauffeured back to their ceremony via tractors and wagons, and it was more than just a wedding…it was *an experience.*

Friends and family gathered underneath the trees to watch these two promise each other a lifetime.

The whole day was stunningly beautiful, but relaxed, like a sweet exhale. It held depth, honoring grief and joy in a way that only those who’ve given themselves over to great grace can. There were tears and laughter, and it was the most beautiful beginning to Alex & Maddi’s new life together.

Congrats, you two! It was the best day, yes?!

Well, hey there FB world! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted photos here. I was feeling particularly inspired to share and I wasn’t quite feeling the constraints of Instagram today, so here we are. ā˜ŗļø

Jordan & Brittany had the loveliest wedding this past Saturday.

It was heartfelt and relaxed. Detailed and sincere. The day hit all of the right notes. Jordan & Brittany were fun and grounded. Intentional while going with the flow of the day.

My favorite parts of the day were when they honored their parents. See Jordan lost his mom and Brittany lost her dad, and on wedding days the absence of these beloved ones is gaping.

Brittany did a first look with her mother. Her mother doesn’t hear well, but Brittany had them cue in her favorite song (Here Comes The Sun) at a good volume, and the moment was just šŸ˜šŸ™ŒšŸ¼ā¤ļø. Brittany gifted her a beautiful bracelet with the words ā€œI know what love is because of youā€ engraved on the inside Jordan & Brittany both wrote her a note and something about this moment was so…honoring. First looks are often about the bride, and that is a GOOD thing. But somehow Brittany flipped this moment and it was this stunning way to make sure *her mom* was celebrated. It was beautiful.

Jordan was tearing up when she walked down the aisle, and Brittany gave the best speech to remember her dad and Jordan’s mom on their day. They had a sweet mother-in-law/son dance and father-in-law/daughter dance at the same time.

Sunset at Flora & Field DELIVERED, and the dancing was fun, and the bride and groom actually truly enjoyed the s’mores they made (didn’t just do it for the photos)! The night ended with sparklers and it was magical.

Jordan & Brittany, so honored to capture these memories for you!

Got a good one on the blog for you today, friends.

Austin + Shantia had the sweetest, intimate wedding celebration a few weeks back. It was simple and meaningful, and such an honor to witness and photograph. The weather went rogue, and Austin + Shantia had a most adventurous + romantic beginning to their story - they got married under the trees in the rain. Turns out you don’t need everything to be perfect to get married - you just need two people ready to commit their lives to loving each other…and an officiant, of course. ;). Everything else is pretty dispensable. Their rainy beginning was the strangest kind of wonderful - not what you’d order in wedding day weather, but in retrospect, I found their celebration entirely unique in its beauty. Perhaps the most meaningful part of their day was after the ceremony. The bride and groom, along with their families, drove the five miles to the cemetery to honor Shantia’s later mother Lydia. Shantia wanted to leave flowers from her bouquet at her mother’s grave. It was wrecking to witness this mingling of joy and grief, but more so, it was an absolute privilege. Austin + Shantia, thank you for inviting me to capture this opening chapter of your story. More of their day linked below…

Alex + Kelsey tied the knot and it just might have been the most meaningful ceremony I've ever been privileged to witness. There was something very 'other' about it in a way that's hard to nail down, but was oh-so-beautiful to experience. They wrote their own vows, and the depth of the promises they made to one another was clearly something they didn't flippantly write out in five minutes. They meant what they said with every fiber of their beings. There was something about the atmosphere that was...holy, but not in an uptight kind of way that makes you uncomfortable. It was holy like a fire that draws you in on a cold day - inviting, warm, even comforting somehow. God tying these two hearts together was something to behold. Alex & Kelsey made space for Him intentionally in a way I've never quite experienced before in a ceremony. What a privilege to have witnessed the beginning of this beautiful marriage. Here's a teeny-tiny peek into their day!

GUYS. I’ve got the BEST STORY for you today. No lie. Read on.>>>

This is my sister Marilyn. For those of you who don’t know, she has battled with a food addiction for literally two decades. 20 YEARS, you guys. (Scroll for before pic.) For those of you who’ve also struggled with dis-ordered eating, you know how very painful this kind of bo***ge is. Over the past year, I’ve watched Jesus straight up do a miracle in her life. It has been CRAZY AWESOME.

In March of 2018, Marilyn told me she felt like maybe the Lord had told her it was the time of His favor. She told me she was asking Him to help her lose 100 lbs by December 31, 2018. It was a big, bold, audacious ask. When she told me, I could feel the faith she had, and I knew Jesus was up to something. šŸ‘šŸ¼ Watching Jesus do His thing in others lives is second only to experiencing Him doing His thing in your own, ya know? IT’S SO FUN. Over the next months the change I had seen unfolding in Marilyn’s heart for YEARS manifested as fruit you could see in her life. She lost twenty-five, then fifty, and sometime in November of 2018, a solid month ahead of what she’d even prayed for, she hit her goal of 100 lbs by the end of the year. *cue confetti* It has been the best to celebrate FREEDOM with her. Because she really is free. You know? If the Son sets you free, you’re REALLY free. And she’s really free.šŸ™ŒšŸ¼šŸ˜šŸ™ŒšŸ¼ Her weight loss doesn’t feel shaky, controlled, like she might gain it back next year. Wanna know why? Cause she didn’t do it in her own strength. She showed up, for sure. But she chose grace over control again and again. I literally got to watch what it looks like for someone to take Jesus up on His offer to take up HIS yoke, easy and light. When Jesus liberates you, it isn’t tenuous. It’s grace + relationship + the joy of walking with Him. It is grand + simple.ā¤ļøšŸ™ŒšŸ¼

Marilyn’s story *in her own words* is on my blog. Go check it out. Bet you’ll be encouraged. šŸ˜‰ >>>

Ya’ll. Been sitting on this one for a good week now - and I'm SO excited to share a peek into Spencer & Nicole’s wedding day memories! S+N tied the knot on an exceptionally blustery day in late October. It was chilly and rainy but it didn’t dampen their spirits (cause these two knew way better than to let a little thing like bad weather touch their joy). They chose the oh-so-charming Barn on Chapel Rd as their venue, and it was a perfectly cozy spot for friends and family to gather and celebrate with them. More of their wedding memories can be seen here>>> www.dg-photography.us/spencer-nicole-wedding-highlights

Had the best time stomping around Uptown Westerville with these two lovebirds awhile back! Spencer & Nicole tie the knot this fall, and they go together like cookies + milk, coffee + donuts, salt + pepper. Apparently I'm full of the food analogies this morning?! ...anyway, S+N are all kinds of perfect for one another. He's a farmer from Michigan, and she was raised on a farm in Ohio. They met a number of years back, and I find it delightful the way God writes all love stories at the pace that suits Him. Some love stories happen fast and furious and sort of all-at-once. Others are slower, like He's taking His time making art or good wine. Spencer & Nicole's story was the latter and isn't it just so true that He makes everything beautiful in it's time? I think so. Spencer + Nicole, I was so privileged to spend a little time with you both! Can't wait for your big day!

A few months ago I walked into Mike & Sheila’s home for the first time…and was utterly charmed. It could be that I have a soft spot for old homes that have been updated in all of the right ways. Give me a fixer upper full of history and stories over a brand new home any day. ;) It could be the old-home factor, but I think what makes a home *truly special* is less about perfectly-aged hardwood floors and white-painted brick chimneys (Mike & Sheila have both!) and more about the life that those who live inside its walls are stewarding. Their home is peace-filled. That’s what I felt when I walked back down the street towards my car that first day I was in their home for Sheila's sister’s bridal shower. Or maybe it was Sheila and the Presence she stewards. I think maybe that’s where it’s at. Your home becomes a haven for whatever you steward inside of you, and Sheila is stewarding a peace that has become tangible in her home. Isn’t that something beautiful? I was so honored to be invited back to photograph this little peek at what their lives look like right now. Ya'll. It's that time of year. I've been {unintentionally} hoarding all kinds of pretty photos, sessions, weddings, you-name-it because these days we're working to just. get. things. done. Hoping to remedy the undersharing of all of the pretty over the next few weeks now that we're through crazy October! Kicking off my hopefully new trend of actually sharing said photos is this beautiful 2018 senior! Bianka is such a fun and vibrant personality and her session was nothing short of a complete riot. It could be because her Aunt Tonya joined us for the session (btw, HMU was compliments of Tonya too!), so fun was just inevitable. Bianka, you are stunning and anytime you want to come hang out with my camera again, sign. me. up. ;) More of her session can be seen here: www.dg-photography.us/bianka-senior-2018-highlights
