🚨 A DEA surveillance operation that began last December ended with two southwest Ohio relatives in federal custody after agents watched them pick up four storage containers stuffed with co***ne from a Columbus hotel and drive them to a Fairfield home.

Damian Galan, 31, of Cincinnati, and his nephew Diego Galan, 19, of Fairfield, were arrested in the early morning hours of May 10 after a months-long investigation by the DEA Cincinnati District Office, the Cincinnati Police Department, the FBI, HSI, and the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office. Agents observed the two men traveling in tandem to a Holiday Inn Express in Columbus on May 9, where they received four 17-gallon storage containers from two other individuals. They then drove to Diego's Fairfield home, where search warrants were executed at both residences. Investigators recovered approximately 77 kilograms of co***ne in the storage containers at Diego's home, along with bulk cash, fi****ms, and suspected methamphetamine. A search of Damian's Cincinnati home turned up an additional four kilograms of co***ne and another firearm 🔍.

Subsequent searches uncovered an additional 244 kilograms of suspected co***ne in the Columbus area, bringing the total seizure to approximately 325 kilograms, or 716 pounds, with an estimated street value of $5.8 million. Both men are charged with federal conspiracy to distribute co***ne, carrying a mandatory minimum of 10 years and a maximum of life in prison.

Marion Man Sentenced to 27–32.5 Years in Prison for Major Drug Trafficking Operation

Tommy Lee Owens was sentenced yesterday by Judge Matthew P. Frericks to a prison term of 27 to 32.5 years following his convictions for his role in a large-scale, multi-state drug trafficking organization.

On January 22, 2026, Owens was found guilty by a jury of one count of Engaging in a Pattern of Corrupt Activity, a felony of the first degree, one count of Possession of Co***ne, a felony of the first degree, and one count of Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs, a felony of the first degree. He has now been ordered to serve an aggregate indefinite prison term of 27 to 32.5 years.

“This sentence reflects the seriousness of the offenses and the substantial danger posed to our community from illegal drugs,” said Marion County Prosecutor Ray Grogan. “The coordinated efforts of our task force officers and partner agencies dismantled a significant drug trafficking network and prevented large quantities of dangerous narcotics from being distributed locally.”

The convictions and sentence stem from a months-long investigation conducted by the MARMET Drug Task Force in coordination with the Delaware County Drug Task Force. The investigation uncovered a major drug trafficking operation spanning multiple states, multiple counties, and utilizing a structured network of lower-level dealers to distribute significant quantities of narcotics.

Owens resided at New Park Drive in Marion, Ohio, with Manuel Allen, who previously pleaded guilty to Engaging in a Pattern of Corrupt Activity, a felony of the second degree and Aggravated Trafficking, a felony of the first degree.

Investigators determined that Owens was instrumental in coordinating the shipment of narcotics from downtown Los Angeles, California, via UPS parcel service to associates in Marion. Those packages were transported to the New Park Drive apartment, where the narcotics were re-manufactured, repackaged, and prepared for distribution.

On November 2, 2022, a search warrant executed at the residence of an associate of Owens in Delaware County resulted in the seizure of approximately eight pounds of ma*****na, $14,000 in cash, and more than $97,500 in high-end merchandise believed to be connected to drug proceeds.

Through court-authorized GPS surveillance of a Hyundai Elantra connected to the investigation, law enforcement established a strong nexus between the New Park Drive residence and the receipt and redistribution of narcotics. Surveillance revealed numerous short-duration stops consistent with trafficking activity.

On May 5, 2023, investigators executed a search warrant at the New Park Drive apartment. The search resulted in the seizure of:

203.4 grams of co***ne
447.3 grams of methamphetamine
107.04 grams of fentanyl (enough to kill 50,000 people)
$10,000.00 in cash

Officers also recovered vacuum-sealed packaging materials consistent with kilogram-level distribution, large quantities of plastic bags, digital scales, and individually packaged narcotics. A ledger recovered from a co-defendant’s phone detailed numerous smaller-level dealers, several of whom were already under investigation.

Shortly after the search warrant ex*****on, another parcel shipped from California and destined for an associate in Richland County, was intercepted before delivery. A search of that package revealed approximately 13 pounds of methamphetamine in vacuum-sealed packaging.

The evidence at trial demonstrated that Owens played a central role in the coordination, planning, shipment, and distribution of felony-level quantities of co***ne, fentanyl, and methamphetamine that would have reached the community absent law enforcement intervention.

This case was primarily investigated by Det. Alison Castrilla of the Delaware Drug Task Force. The case was tried to the jury by Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys John Scott and Heath Findley.

Man Pleads Guilty in Horrific Child S*x Assault Case - Kyle Knickel Admits to Abusing Multiple Young Victims

Kyle Knickel, 24, pleaded guilty today to the r**e of a victim under 10 years old, pandering s*xually oriented matter involving a minor, and gross s*xual imposition, admitting to a string of s*xual assaults that scarred multiple children over several years. He faces a life sentence.

The crimes, which unfolded in the village of Prospect, came to light after The Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force alerted the Marion County Sheriff's Office Marion,OH to a deeply troubling image that Knickel had downloaded. During the investigation, a 7 year old child and an 8 year old child bravely disclosed the s*xual abuse they endured years prior to professionals at The Center for Family Safety and Healing at Nationwide Children's Hospital.

The Prosecutor’s Office pursued the case relentlessly, building on evidence from the Sheriff’s office probe that exposed Knickel’s pattern of targeting vulnerable kids. The guilty plea ensures accountability for s*xual assaults that robbed them of innocence.

“This plea drags a child s*xual predator into the light and locks in justice for these kids,” Ray Grogan, Marion County Prosecutor, said. “Knickel’s actions were pure evil, and we refused to let him hide.”

The conviction highlights Grogan’s fierce stance against child exploitation, with Sheriff Matt Bayle’s office and child advocates playing pivotal roles in empowering the victims to speak out. Grogan continues to pursue other Marion County child s*x offenders, many of whom will go to great lengths to avoid justice.

“I’ve prosecuted many people who s*xually assault children and one thing I’ve learned is that they’ll do anything to distract attention and shift blame from their wicked actions,” Grogan continued. “Luckily, our s*x crime prosecutions have solid evidence that helps us defeat these attempts at escaping responsibility. Some cases take longer than others, but we never give up on justice and this case is the latest example.”

Knickel now awaits sentencing in front of Judge Todd Anderson. Knickel will also have to register as a s*x offender for life.

“Marion County residents demand protection for every child,” Grogan concluded. “This outcome protects other children and warns the predators who we know are out there: we’re watching, and you’ll pay.”
