Alternative Dispute Resolution ("ADR") is simply the method of settling disputes outside of the courtroom. Often used as an alternative to traditional litigation, mediation is a less formal, more flexible process that is significantly lower in cost compared to typical lawsuits. ADR Professionals specialize in bringing opposing parties together and helping them work out a settlement to disputes the
y otherwise are unable to resolve on their own. Mediators are neutral and do not impose decisions; instead, they help facilitate the process so that those involved can communicate effectively and resolve conflict in a safe, neutral, non-judgmental, and respectful environment. Through the mediation process, participants can voluntarily work out their differences to formulate solutions based upon what they determine is best for their business, their family, their children, and themselves. Negotiations between participants are confidential. Once participants agree to a solution to their conflict, their agreement is written in contract form. Most civil disputes can be mediated, such as those involving contracts, leases, foreclosures, small business ownership, auto accident claims, employment, workplace disputes, and family matters. In cases of separated unmarried parents and dissolution/divorce, mediation is a tool to help participants resolve issues related to dissolving their relationship, in order to eliminate or reduce the need for costly court proceedings or a contested divorce. Areas in which mediation can help include, but is not limited to, property division, financial support, child custody, visitation schedules, and parenting plans. Mediation is confidential, respectful, privileged, empowering, and helps participants maintain their voice and dignity. Feel free to contact us for more information.
