Meet the artist behind your next custom frame.
At Franklin Imaging, framing is more than craftsmanship — it’s an art form. That’s why our master framer is an artist himself.
Meet Mohamed “Bakri” Hamid, an award-winning painter whose work spans oil, acrylic and watercolor. As both artist and artisan, he approaches every frame with a deep understanding of composition, proportion and intent.
Bakri came to Columbus from Sudan in 2000 and trained under master framer Craig Hackman while continuing to develop his own artistic practice. His work draws on traditional motifs, scripts, architectural forms and patterns inspired by the many cultures and traditions he has encountered throughout his life.
When Hackman retired, Franklin Imaging acquired his renowned framing studio. Bakri remained, preserving the expertise, original molds and time-honored techniques that have made Castner frames so distinctive.
Today, he handcrafts museum-quality custom frames using original Castner molds dating back to the late 19th century. His unique perspective brings a level of care, collaboration and artistic sensitivity that museums, collectors and portrait painters immediately recognize.
Because exceptional artwork deserves a frame crafted with the same care and intention that created it.
