Continuing to prioritize community voices, REALM and were given an opportunity to update Marysville residents on the newly adopted Community Vision Plan. The plan, formally adopted on February 23, aims to establish a flexible framework that can adapt to future priorities as the community evolves. To ensure the plan keeps pace with the community’s changing priorities, we will continue to collaborate with city staff and residents during future implementation projects.

We’re excited to welcome Alaina Hawthorn as a new designer to the studio this week.

Alaina holds a Master’s in Urban Design for Healthy Cities from Universitat Internacional de Catalunya and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture with a Minor in City and Regional Planning from The Ohio State University. She brings valuable early experience from her time as an intern with the Ohio Department of Administrative Services, where she contributed to public projects within the state.

We’re excited for her to bring her passion for community-centered, health-based design to our studio and the work we do in the public realm.

REALM is co-leading with Mickelson Studio the visioning process for the City of Marysville, helping shape a long-term framework that supports thoughtful growth, vibrant public spaces, and a strong sense of place.

This week, we joined City Council, Planning Commission members, and community residents for an open house to share progress on the Vision Plan.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this important step toward Marysville’s future.

Carmine Russo recently joined Lobbyist Luther Liggett and the rest of the Legislative team at the Annual Meeting to discuss the chapter’s advocacy efforts and the role of its newly-formed Political Action Committee. Their conversation highlighted the importance of shaping policies that impact our built environment and quality of life in our communities.

Last week, we supported Pizzuti Solutions and the City of Powell in the first Downtown Village Green Master Plan community open house, engaging with Powell residents and business owners to discuss the future of this central civic space.

The goal of this initial discovery phase is to determine both the challenges and opportunities that downtown Powell can leverage to create a more thriving and economically sustainable community asset.

In the coming months, our team will develop preliminary visionary concepts based on community feedback. Continued participation will be essential as the plan evolves toward implementation.

Over the past eight years, our work has been guided by a commitment to creating impactful public spaces through thoughtful design, creative visioning, storytelling, and innovation. Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do—our close partnerships with clients and stakeholders ensure the integrity of each project, from the earliest big ideas to the final ex*****on.

Every project we undertake is the result of countless small decisions, each made with care to elevate the function, character, and meaning of shared spaces. Our goal has always been to shape a public realm that fosters connection, creates meaningful interactions, and earns a lasting place in the lives of the communities we serve.

We recently welcomed Jenna Jones, our 2025 co-op student. Originally from Toledo, OH, Jenna is starting her third year in Landscape Architecture program. She is also a member and the Fundraising Committee Chair of professional fraternity for architecture & the allied arts, Alpha Rho Chi - Demetrios Chapter.

As part of major renovation to their main campus, UC Health charged REALM with transforming a former service area into a beautiful courtyard. Its purpose being two-fold: to offer a momentary escape from the clinical environment and to implement the transformative impact of biophilic design on patient and staff well-being.

The tranquil courtyard is anchored by nine Lacebark Elm Trees, seated within a carpet of common periwinkle, all within the lush backdrop of meticulously pruned taxus hedges, providing year-round greenery as well as a harmonious blend of indoor and outdoor spaces.
