The Creative Abundance Group was created to enhance the social, emotional and physical well-being of individuals with intellectual disabilities and other perceived differences. The Creative Abundance Group assists organizations that support people with intellectual disabilities and other perceived differences through on-site technical assistance, staff development, workshops and consultation. By u

sing the Creative Abundance Model, Susan Dlouhy and Patty Mitchell are helping to transform services for people with disabilities all over the world! The Creative Abundance Model can best be described as a context that surrounds the way services are provided with and for people experiencing developmental differences. The Creative Abundance Model is based on the interconnectedness of community and the wealth of creative spirit that already exists. The more you trust the creative process, the more opportunities will find you. Under the current system, staff members have a powerful and direct influence on how programming is offered; this framework is built around the roles and responsibilities of each position. More importantly, the Creative Abundance Model follows the creative interests of individuals receiving services. The Center for Medicaid Services (CMS) and the United States Department of Justice are sweeping the country and demanding a change in the way services are delivered to individuals with disabilities. Services must be provided in integrated, community settings. The Creative Abundance Model is an approach to providing integrated services by turning the sheltered workshops into the community! We offer a 12 Stage (Creative Abundance) Model for changing traditional sheltered workshops, day programs and other congregate settings into community centers. We believe that everything we need to make this change already exists: abundance and creativity.
