“There’s lots of different ways that you can jump in to help make the change that you want to see.” It sounds simple, but what Judge Laurel Beatty Blunt said is exactly what so many people get stuck on. We think it has to be big or all-consuming to matter, when in reality it usually starts much smaller.

Judge Laurel Beatty Blunt's early connection to the legal field began in a law office her father built after encountering barriers in his own path through law school and into practice. Rather than accept the lack of opportunity available to him, he created a space that allowed other black attorneys to work and build their careers. Normally Carley creates all our social media posts but this one is personal & I’ve had a day so this one is all me.

I see so many posts on social media recognizing Women’s History Month in a celebratory way that feels a little over the top, While it is a time to celebrate women, I’m not sure that’s where most of us are right now.

There’s a lot going on in the world and most women I know are carrying a heavy load. Between work & family, everyday life stress, and trying to stay informed while holding on to our mental health, it can be overwhelming and exhausting.

Despite all of that women are working hard to move the needle. We’re showing up everyday in hopes our impact helps others and those who will come after us.

To me, that’s the true meaning of Women’s History Month.

Thank you to all the women who joined for our time together. I’m grateful for everything you do & more importantly for the kind of people you are in this world.

*if you want to join next year’s gathering please let me know. There’s always room for more women to join us.
