We made it to the CCMA Conference! This year in Tacoma, the theme was “A Cascade of Cooperation: Building Community Power in a Time of Change”
ICS worker-owner, and Spokane’s board member, Micheal Snow was able to attend the 3 day thoughtfully jam-packed with content conference last week. We’re thrilled and so grateful to be able to learn and represent our co-op during this convening of food co-op leaders and collaborators.
It’s always a wonderful reminder that we, as co-operators, are motivated by our shared values and principles that go beyond sector, industry, or region. There is a diverse history of our movement that we’re still working to discover and share with each other, as well as distinct experiences of cooperation that, when appreciated, have the potential to strengthen what we’ve set out to do.
The food co-op sector’s success, alongside its challenges, provides a lot for us to learn from in the worker cooperative and employee ownership space.
Experiencing a new city, touring co-ops, seeing some old friends from and some friends from across the country are arguably some of the best parts of these visits.
Bringing home the energy, excitement, and nurturing connections from these gatherings and then translating that into our local work and impact is why they matter.
