The Washington Center for Employee Ownership - WACEO took the Through-lines workshop on the road to Ellensburg for the PLACES Conference, and we got to join for the fun!

PLACES is a statewide convening put on by the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation, and convenes Main Street Leaders, economic developers, owners, and other key stakeholders all in one place to inspire, make connections, and ultimately continue the work however we touch it.

Through-lines is a workshop where diverse stakeholders are encouraged to find the opportunities for collaboration across their work.

Employee ownership is a through-line that touches so many areas of impact, and these convening are so important to us to strike that conversation and bring the value of employee ownership to attention. We’re grateful to have the trust and engagement to facilitate building those connections to break down silos and encourage that we all see more opportunities in our work together.

We had the absolute honor and pleasure of attending Washington Center for Employee Ownership - WACEO and Ownership Capital Lab's employee ownership capital roadmap roadshow!

We had the opportunity to speak earnestly on our experience as WACEO’s regional advocate for Eastern Washington, why it’s important, and why the model is working for us.

In addition to our work as a regional advocate we had the opportunity to also share and showcase the work of Seed Commons, and how as a regional loan fund we’re positioned uniquely to support current and future employee owned businesses through non-extractive lending.

The work of both and Ownership Capital Lab are so important to the development of state and nationwide support infrastructure so all levels of the employee ownership ecosystem are supported and well understood by the various stakeholders.

Presentations yay, yay, yay! 🎊

ICS worker-owners Emily Himmelright and Micheal Snow offered a presentation called From Foundations to the Future: Bookkeeping for Small Businesses in Modern Times. Where they had the opportunity to present on the tools and best practices for small business owners to manage their finances.

Washington, we’re less than a week away!

On September 28–29, the EO Capital Roadmap Roadshow is coming to Seattle for two days of conversations, connections, and practical ideas for growing employee ownership co-hosted with the Washington Center for Employee Ownership (WACEO).

Day 1 | September 28 - Inside Employee Ownership

We’ll kick things off at Mētis Construction with a site visit and tour, followed by a conversation featuring worker-owners and leaders from Mētis Construction, Pidgin, Red Dot Distribution, Triple Bottom Line Construction, Seattle Gymnastics Academy, Capitol City Press, and A1DesignBuild.

We’ll dig into the realities of running an employee-owned company, what’s working, what’s challenging, and what other business leaders can learn from their experiences.

Then we’ll keep the conversation going with an evening networking reception.

Day 2 | September 29 - Building the EO Ecosystem

Day two takes a broader look at what it will take to scale employee ownership across Washington.

We’ll explore:

🌟How policy can advance employee ownership with WACEO and Roy Messing
🌟The different forms of capital available to EO businesses with Brian Boland, Mauri Ingram, and Rob Meussner, CFA
