A strong operation is built on more than good cattle. Sometimes, it's built on helping the people around you succeed.

For David Miller and his family of Edgefield, South Carolina, that belief has become a driving force behind their operation.

What began as a commitment to raising quality Red Angus cattle has grown into something much bigger. Recognizing the challenges smaller producers face when marketing their calves, David set out to create opportunities for neighboring cattlemen to work together, build larger groups of cattle and capture more value in the marketplace.

The idea wasn't met with much confidence at first. But through determination, trusted relationships and a willingness to put others' success alongside his own, David helped build a feeder calf marketing program that continues to make a difference for producers throughout the Southeast.

"I never did any of this for an award, I was just doing it to help people," Miller said.

In "Bonded by Community," featured in the October issue of the Red Angus Magazine, we share the story behind the Miller family's operation, the relationships they've built and the impact of one producer's commitment to helping his neighbors.

Congratulations to David, Karen, J.D. and the entire Miller family on being named the 2026 Red Angus Commercial Producer of the Year! A well-deserved recognition of their dedication to the breed and the producers they serve.

In honor of Ethan Wade Dickerson and the lasting impact he made on the Red Angus community, a scholarship fund is being established in his name through the Red Angus Stakeholders Foundation.

Ethan, 26, of Paradise, Kansas, passed away Sept. 28, 2026, following an automobile accident. A gifted stockman, fierce competitor and natural leader, Ethan had a lifelong passion for agriculture, Red Angus cattle and the people who make this industry special.

Ethan believed deeply in young people and the opportunities created through the Junior Red Angus Association. To carry that passion forward, a scholarship fund is being established in his name to invest in future generations of young agricultural leaders.

Through these gifts, Ethan's legacy of leadership, friendship and service will continue to make a difference in the lives of young people for generations to come.
