At IMTS 2026, Mark Hindsbo, Head of Operations Software at Siemens Digital Industries, highlighted a challenge familiar to many manufacturers: manufacturers often spend weeks or months connecting software, machine controls, postprocessors, and workflows after machine delivery before achieving full productivity. Siemens' new "Meet at the Machine" initiative aims to change that by bringing together machine tools, CAM software, machine-specific postprocessors, and digital twin technology into a pre-integrated workflow.

Developed in collaboration with TRAK Machine Tools, the initiative enables manufacturers to begin programming, simulation, validation, and optimization before a machine even arrives on the shop floor. Siemens says this approach can reduce ramp-up time by up to 50%, helping manufacturers accelerate time to value and achieve productive machining faster.

As Mark Hindsbo noted, manufacturers expect productivity immediately, not months after installation. By combining CNC technology, CAM software, and a continuous digital thread that connects engineering, programming, virtual validation, and machine ex*****on, Siemens is helping make that vision a reality.

Siemens just launched "Meet at the Machine", an initiative that connects engineering software, automation hardware and machine builder know-how into one digital workflow.

The idea is simple. Most manufacturers only start programming, validating and training after a new machine is installed. With this approach, they program, simulate and validate production while the machine is still being built. Siemens says this can cut ramp-up time by up to 50 percent.
