Five years ago, the Cabarrus Center opened its doors with a vision to cultivate entrepreneurship, innovation and opportunity in our community. Our recent 5-year anniversary celebration was a powerful reminder of just how much has grown from that vision.

The evening brought together entrepreneurs, innovators, dreamers and the many champions who have supported them along the way. Community partners and local business owners were recognized for their contributions, while testimonials and giveaways from small businesses highlighted the impact the Cabarrus Center continues to make across Cabarrus County.

One of the evening’s biggest announcements came as attendees learned the Cabarrus Center lease has officially been signed for the next five years — ensuring this invaluable resource will continue serving and growing our entrepreneurial community for years to come. Thank you to Flywheel Coworking, the Flywheel Foundation, and the Cabarrus Economic Development Corporation for their commitment to bringing and keeping this resource in Cabarrus County.

As guests reflected on the Center’s incredible first chapter, many were already looking forward to celebrating the next milestone: 10 years.

Twice a year, as part of Flywheel’s Retail Lab program, I get to impart commercial real estate wisdom to entrepreneurs.

Once I manage to wake them back up, I then get to host a unique panel of downtown development officials and their wealth of knowledge.

Special thanks to Paige Grohoske from the city of Concord, Irene Wong from Kannapolis, Erin Burris from Mt Pleasant and Sada Troutman from Salisbury.

Interested in launching a business? Reach out to Grant Colgan at flywheel for information about the next Retail Lab!
