We continue this week's recognition with our MRF crew, where our highly skilled team and state-of-the-art technology work side by side to process all the blue cart and bin materials from throughout Central and East Contra Costa County.

Once materials arrive at the MRF, specialized equipment helps move and sort the large volume. At the same time, our team oversees the machinery, monitors the line, steps in wherever needed, performs quality control, and ensures materials are sorted correctly.

From sorting on the line to operating the balers and checking the final product, our MRF team plays a key role in diverting recyclables from the landfill and moving them to recycling partners.

Thank you to all our MRF team members for keeping our recycling stream moving, day in and day out. πŸ‘

Today, we spotlight our Transfer Station team, the crew working behind the scenes to keep everything moving at our recovery hub.

Once the trucks come in from the routes, our Transfer Station team takes over. From managing materials collected on route to supporting customers dropping off their waste, they direct traffic and ensure each type of material reaches its processing destination. Whether it's Construction and Demolition material, organics, or electronics, they also pull recyclables out of the general waste stream, load and drive the semis, and move materials down the road to their final destination.

We see the hard work and dedication each of you brings every single day. Thank you, RCTS. πŸ‘

This Waste and Recycling Workers Week, MDRR is proud to spotlight the dedicated teams who show up every day to serve our communities.

All week long, we'll be highlighting the hardworking people behind our operations, starting with our Collections team.
Rain or shine, early mornings and long days, our Collections crew is out on the routes keeping our communities clean. From neighborhood pickups to bin collections at your local shopping center to debris boxes from homes and businesses, their commitment and reliability make a difference every single day.

A huge thank you to our Collections team members. We are grateful for each of you. πŸ‘

Please join us in congratulating Maria Salas Daravina as she begins a well-earned new chapter in her retirement! πŸŽ‰

After a decade with Mt. Diablo Resource Recovery, Maria bids farewell as an MRF Quality Control Sorter. It's demanding work as our facility processes 300 tons of materials every day, and the QC team plays an imperative role in making that happen. Maria brought consistency and professionalism to that work throughout her career.

Maria, we are so grateful for your dedication and care. Wishing you all the best!

Our Dispatch + Debris Box team is the backbone of our collections operation. Whether it's scheduling a rental box for a customer or getting drivers set for their morning routes, it all runs through this team. They track the fleet, reroute around delays, coordinate deliveries, and step in when the unexpected happens, all while supporting one another across both sides of the work.

We thank Joe, Gaby, Joseph, Elena, and Katie for the behind-the-scenes work that keeps our customers taken care of and our drivers supported every single day. πŸ™Œ

πŸš› Did you know that in part of our service area, garbage and recycling are collected in the same truck? That's right, same hopper but two separate compartments.

These special trucks have two compartments in the rear, so your driver can empty two carts on each visit, which means fewer trucks on the road.

To protect your decking and fencing from weather and insects, the treated wood has chemical preservatives. California law requires your pressure-treated wood to be disposed of properly.

As one of the few permitted haulers and processing facilities, we can take that material for you. While drop-off is an option, we also have open-top boxes for separated or mixed loads with treated wood waste.
