New discussions in the film industry highlight progress in disability representation on screen.

More films are including disabled actors, stories, and perspectives, helping shift how disability is understood by broader audiences.

Representation matters. When disability is included in media, it can reduce stigma and reflect real experiences.

Several U.S. national parks are expanding accessibility through features like paved trails, accessible lodging, and inclusive visitor programs.

These changes help people with disabilities experience natural spaces that have historically been difficult to access.

Access to parks is about more than recreation. It supports connection, education, and well-being.

The state of California has updated its education and workforce dashboard with new accessibility features.

These updates aim to make data easier to navigate for people with disabilities, including improvements that support screen readers and clearer design.

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has extended compliance deadlines for digital accessibility requirements under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The U.S. DOJ issued an interim final rule extending the deadlines for making government websites and mobile apps accessible. Most large entities now have until 2027, while smaller ones may have until 2028 to comply.

The rules themselves have not changed. Public entities are still required to ensure digital services meet accessibility standards so people with disabilities can access information, programs, and services online.

Join us for our Digital Accessibility training on May 14, 2026 at 10:00AM, Creating Accessible Documents from the Start!

Creating accessible documents doesn’t have to mean fixing issues after the fact. This training introduces the fundamentals of digital document accessibility with a focus on building accessibility into Word documents from the very beginning.

Participants will learn how WCAG Level AA principles apply to everyday documents, how assistive technologies interact with Word and PDFs, and why starting with a well-structured source document saves time and effort later.

Group rates are available! Register 4 attendees and receive a 5th registration for free.

A new program in Burbank is expanding access to outdoor spaces.

The city launched a trail accessibility program that provides all-terrain wheelchairs so people with mobility disabilities can use hiking trails that were previously difficult to access.

These devices allow people to navigate steep and uneven terrain and participate in outdoor recreation. Programs like this show that access to nature should not be limited by mobility barriers.

Outdoor access supports health, connection, and quality of life.
